Had a great convo at the Tokyo Shinkansen with 2 older British guys about US and UK politics. They asked how our hope was and our outlook on everything. At the end, they said "Don't lose hope. We believe in you. We are rooting for America and democracy!" It was just.... really nice to hear.

Did a very Texas thing last Friday... shot a gun for the first time. It was terrifying and entertaining in a weird way. Turns out I have pretty good aim - thank you video games! Also really puts it in perspective how messed up you have to be to willingly harm anyone innocent with one.

Went to Austin for early Valentines Day to finally eat at our favorite restaurant again (after over 2 years) 😍 We got to check out a cidery that was all delicious dry ciders. They were celebrating Galantine's Day and gave me the drinks they made for socials. And it's right next to a cemetery!

Windshield wipers, windshield wiper fluid, and the left camera stopped working. Mobile repair came out, said they couldn't repair it because rodents made a nest in the Tesla and chewed through all the cables. This state has it out for me. Might be a sign to ditch the state and the car.

Nothing like being terrified of Texas drivers, only to approach a minute old freeway accident with a flipped car on the shoulder and someone doing CPR on the driver and finding out when you get home that they passed away and wow 2025 was so horrible that I've gotten good at suppressing trauma

It's truly amazing how bad the drivers are here. IT'S SO BAD. SO SO BAD.

We had to take lil B'z to the vet for a sudden lump on her side. It looks like a benign fatty tumor, but we're still opting to get it removed due to how quick it formed. And the FIL is going in for an outpatient heart surgery today. It's been rough.

First day in office be like

DFW area is so overwhelming. There's just.. so many people and it's huge and the drivers are horrendous

We've had two sets of neighbors notice the moving trucks and cautiously ask me if we were moving, together... I guess the rumor around the block is that we're getting divorced 🤔

Guess it's time to make the announcement that we're moving to Texas next week for work for 12 months. It was a short ultimatum and one we thought about extensively. It's not an easy decision and I'm obviously heartbroken and devastated at this location and accelerated timeline, but it's happening.

Work trip part 3! Made my longest solo drive, checked off seeing two new states (Minnesota and Wisconsin) which adds up to 8 states visited in 8 days, and met up with one of my longest gaming friends after 19 years 🎉

May or may not have checked off visiting New Hampshire and Maine since they were 5 and 25 minutes away from my work today.

This has officially been the most chaotic 365 days of my life and every timeline we've made has accelerated tenfold. And with work sending us everywhere during this, it's just like... 🫠
