I’m in Cornwall, filming a feature film at the moment. Today’s a day off so I popped to Plymouth to catch up with my friend Stephen who I’ve known since 1978.

On this day in 1969, BBC1 launched a colour service which was initially available to around 50% of the U.K. (covering London, Birmingham, South Lancashire and South Yorkshire). Colour programmes on this first night included Star Trek (Arena) and Dixon of Dock Green.
