A few rearrangements of existing parts. I'm honestly a bit sad that these will have to be made into PBR-ed models eventually. But this is also a stylistic breakthrough--we were really struggling to get something that really fit the vibe And I think we've finally found it.

Some more smaller scale efforts. The goal here was a MaK-style launch vehicle. Soft SF enabling compact SSTOs, ignoring aerodynamics, etc. I'm still not really happy with these, but they are a promising first step that I'll probably be returning to.

The people have spoken and they have demanded more sputnik torchships. I have no choice but to obey their will.

These guys are fun even though I'm not the most imaginative with softer designs. FWW, if anyone is interested, I can probably do these as a cheap cheerful little commissions at something *much* lower than my usual rates. If that's something you're interested in, let me know!

Another predictable one. I made sure to give it livery so Tintin didn't have to join the MBEN 🙃 Again, more games with AOV lineart here. It's not as controllable as I'd like, but it can still be improved.

Every now and then I spend an hour doing spite art. Those of you who know me off Bluesky know that I'm not psyched about COADE making cones the default Shape, and the damage this does to people learning 3d. But if you must do cones, at least do something novel with them!

I think that you could probably see this one coming a mile away. There are definitely so many weird travelogs and adventure stories in TTT. Obviously, all English text here is non-diegetic.

A bit more TTT -- this time a very bougie fast transport coming from the same lineage as the Vzdan (pictured in the lineup previously). This is absolutely an armed ship, but not a warship. No gigantic AShMs here.

The funny thing is that I set out to make a train and wound up making a revised NPR setup and a landscape instead.

This is mostly unserious, just an excuse to test out some shading on a model I already had. It's messy but better than I expected on a model that wasn't prepared for it. The HPK's PR-1 tank had a fairly short service life but the IFV conversion of the hull stuck around for a very long time.

And now for something completely different (but still TTT). It's not all giant spaceships filled with nuclear weapons. Mind, it's also not all nice pastoral bliss either. Most people in TTT are peasants of the non-ghibli variety.

More work on cylinders -- one of very, very many places someone calls home.

No time for a fresh piece tonight, but some work on a classic 50s airbrushed style compositor setup. Meant to fit in with the sort of classic stuff on Atomic Rocket, etc.

Monument Builder Type 9s (slightly non-regulation but identifiable by the lack of livery) in the fight of their lives above the Grandmother. The number of nuclear weapons involved in a major space battle is enough to make some spectacular aurorae.

Because I'm on a procrastination rampage, here's a more typical station; you should imagine the mirror as a somewhat abstracted fresnel setup by the 'painter' (it's because I couldn't be bothered to make the geometry nodes setup for a fresnel lens...)

The Stanford Torus setup is very rare for large human-built stations in TTT. Non-rotating backing layers are strongly preferred on efficiency and safety grounds. The more obscure 'hatbox' station proposals would be more typical (and also less fun to model!)

A bit more Worldbuilding Content; now including a few of the WIP ships that haven't got a rebuild yet but are good enough to hold up at a distance on a chart. Some of the missing ones are just no longer good fits for the setting or so old that they can't even be used as placeholders.

A bit of work on the old model of the Type 9 with some manual recreations of parts of the original photobash texture to hold up better in closeups. Try as I might, I just like the old model better than my later attempts. Unbo to test that the styles match up properly. Not quite.

A bit more TTT - working on the interior layer of the cylinders at the moment. Each of those tiling plates is about 50km long! Type 9 just because.

A bit more stylized planet nonsense. Still not really happy with it, but getting steadily better.

A bit of a detour from the other TTT pieces -- a little texture cleanup session escaped and now I have made a Fancy Cylinder.

This is still a work in progress -- figuring out how I want to make rocky bodies in this style is a bit involved and I'm not satisfied yet. But it's at least interesting enough to share.

The GMH has a lot more territory to control than most inner system polities and relies on solar-thermal and solar-electric carriers and boost stages to extend the range of their warships. These spacecraft often use O2 as propellant; volatiles are scarce down here and best used sparingly.

Some more worldbuilding stuff -- this time the Great Merchant Houses' Unbo A; despite appearances it's basically just a Type 9 with a stadium roof stretched over rebuilt tanks. Parade livery is rare; this close to the sun. But when they paint their ships, the GMH goes hard.

This time a bit of personal worldbuilding stuff in a similar faux-paint style to some of my other work. This is a 'monopod' orion (though the interior of the monopod conceals an array of multi-stage pistons).

More illuminated stuff -- this time the classic ship I'm always working on, the Type 9.

Some initial tests of an illuminated map style. This is not ready for the big time yet, but it was fun enough to share. There will be more like this to come.

Slush for the slush pile, worldbuilding for the weird nerds who care about that. I promise I'll post more finished art too, but these are some of the tests, incomplete ideas, and doodles I've tried out in the past month. They are a glimpse into my twisted mind for what that's worth.

The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

This is what happens when you play Mothership -- from last night's series after a bit more poking. I don't love this setup and will probably return to the problem to make a geonodes setup to automate making interior stuff or use a projected texture.

One more Mothership fanart tonight, this time the executive transport, one of my favorite designs in the book. And an experimental black and white version -- not really dialed in quite right ATM.
