City Winery will try and take 20 percent of your merch sales, even if you sell it yourself. Some city wineries will waive this fee and some will say it is company policy to not waive it. Sort before or skip them. Also. Peep “security” and co promoter fees. One night=700 bucks.

Love a Canadian band or comic that tours here? Buy their merch. A p2 visa is 400 bucks. An extra cc fee on top of 3.5 percent of 2.5 percent. Venues hold back a 30%. Some managers take 15 percent on merch and door. Bookers take 10%. After hotels gas and car, 1000 bucks quickly becomes 200 bucks.

If wanting to tour the USA, and you aren’t from here. Tour with an American. They may get hotel discounts through AAA or military or a credit card.

If you’re a Canadian artist and want to tour here. 20 Canadian bucks is only 14 US dollars. Make sure you change your merch prices and use xe.com to see current rates.
