Money, Money, Money Today, we explored what money is, recognition of coins and notes in circulation and the combinations of making various amounts. We then had a go at being the shopkeeper using notes and coins resources ⭐️

Working together this morning, demonstrating the Metaskills of focusing, communicating and collaborating ⭐️

A busy Christmas week was had in the Haven, from planning our impromptu Nativity play, decorating the costumes to changing elements of our Talk For Writing story and lots of yummy Christmas baking!! ⭐️🎄 Have a lovely weekend!

We have engaged in creative ways to learn our spelling words, from participating in phonic games to using Pic Collage to create images related to our Spelling words ⭐️ We have been demonstrating our Creativity and Initiative Metaskills through this ⭐️

This afternoon for Health and Wellbeing, we explored what makes a good friend. We linked this to some of the Metaskills characters we have been exploring over the last couple of weeks. We drew a picture of what makes a good friend and chose Metaskills characters this links to ⭐️ @mrf-stp.bsky.social

On Friday for Food Technology, we carefully followed our recipe to make gingerbread cookies. They turned out to be delicious! ⭐️ @mrf-stp.bsky.social

We created our story map including different symbols to represent what was happening in the story. From this, we had an opportunity to engage in short burst writing choosing a specific symbol from our map. We demonstrated great use of adjectives ⭐️

We used Music and Art combined together to convey how we were feeling this afternoon ⭐️

L did a fantastic job of identifying some new words from our Talk for Writing story. L then created a brilliant character description on one of the main characters using good describing words ⭐️

This afternoon, we identified and explored a range of emotions that our character Dimple from our Emotion Works book was feeling. We had a discussion on the times we have each felt this emotion and strategies that could help us to feel regulated again ⭐️

L worked super hard today at creating a detailed journey piece of writing for the Cold Task within our new Talk For Writing unit. Well done L! 🤩⭐️

This week, we have been working hard at using a range of strategies such as counting on & back, number bonds and facts of 20 and above, numicon and number lines to help us solve number process questions, in particular Addition ⭐️

In the Haven, we love using our imagination and creative skills, working together to create a range of fantastic things ⭐️

Using the pointillism technique in Art this afternoon, we successfully created our own Poppy for Remembrance Day

This afternoon for Science we explored materials that dissolved. Using the skittles, we correctly predicted that the skittles would “release its colour”. We developed our knowledge and understanding of how the sugar dissolves into the water ⭐️

This afternoon we created fabulous firework pictures using a range of different materials such as chalk and glitter. Then for Food Technology we made (edible) sparklers using breadsticks 🎆🎇

⭐️ Exploring Capacity- Measurement ⭐️ We used different sized containers to measure and estimate the amount of liquid each one could hold. Using the scales and measuring jug we developed our knowledge and understanding of the units of measure for capacity ⭐️

For our Talk For Writing we used our innovative skills to change the context of the story ⭐️

L did a fantastic job at using the story map to help him retell How To Trap A Dragon. Well done L! ⭐️

We explored visualisation of the character the Dragon from our Talk For Writing story. We looked at the structure of the story and “boxed it up” from the beginning to the end. We then familiarised ourselves with the story map ⭐️

We explored different instruments of measure to help us weigh different objects. The Haven used good mathematical language to describe the weight of the objects ⭐️

Showing off our fantastic creative and recycling skills this afternoon, by designing brilliant costumes using cardboard boxes and other materials! ⭐️

We enjoyed working on STEM activities with Miss Doak this afternoon!

Lots of creative ideas and imagination this afternoon using various materials such as building a camper van using Lego and a replica of Godzilla from cardboard boxes ⭐️

This morning we were caught by surprise when we entered the Haven after break and met with a mysterious set footprints, scales and a letter. The letter asked us to help write a set of instructions based on how to trap this creature. We guessed what our new writing topic is….and the creature!! 🐉✏️

Unfortunately our Open Morning tomorrow will be cancelled. We will be in touch with a new date for this soon.

Today, we enjoyed an Autumn walk looking at the changes within nature. We then collected different coloured and shaped leaves and created beautiful wreathes 🍁🍂

Another great week in the Haven ⭐️: Showcasing our engineering skills by inventing structural objects using only marshmallows and spaghetti for STEM. Ordering/sequencing numbers, practising our new Spelling phoneme sounds and enjoying another lovely snack each afternoon. Have a lovely weekend 😊

Using Colourful Semantics to develop our understanding of the structure of our story for writing looking at Who, Doing, What. We then showcased our innovative skills by changing some elements of our story ⭐️

Lots of team work today, some very creative ideas using Lego to make a hovercraft and plane car ⭐️

🍂 Autumnal Silhouettes 🍂 This afternoon, we have been learning about the concept of silhouettes. We then chose a range of media to create different effects using an Autumn theme 🍂🍁

This morning the Haven worked super hard at re-telling our story using our map to help us. We then looked at the structure of the story ‘boxing it up’ into the beginning, build up, problem, resolution and ending ⭐️📚

Our week wrapped up in photos: from creating our own rain clouds, litter picking, building our Spelling words to sequencing our individual reading book stories and team building games for PE. Lots of engaging learning experiences this week. Have a lovely long weekend and see you on Tuesday 🤩
