Something in the FAQ is odd: Not only you need to be online to download a (free) license to activate Affinity, but the question/answer about on how to use it for an entire organization refers to Single-Sign-On. This does taste like a step towards a cloud-product.

So, i watched the announcement video for the Affinity App, and upon reaching part that it would become free forever, a single question dominated all others: How does Canva/Serif earn money with Affinity from now on? Only via the optional Canva-subscription? I am confused...

#Septopolis 21 Cantarval always was made up from people from all the Seven Worlds and sure, the number one reason to come and stay here is business, there is little that you cannot trade or obtain here, plus, the logistic capabilities this city built up make it perfect for headquarters. 1/4🛬

#Septopolis 20 Cantarval has a long tradition of having parks and small gardens everywhere, combining and embedding them into the usual socializing places. Many restaurants, bars and cafes thus seamlessly blend into one of the many garden-terraces found in the city. 1/3🏕️

#Septopolis 19 As the ultimate trading hub, Cantarval has almost overspecialized on everything concerning logistics of some kind. Building and maintaining the countless roads and trainlines is an immense challenge on all accounts. So is the traffic-control in the entire metropolitan region. 1/6🪙

#Septopolis 18 Undeniably, the one manmade feature which shaped the 7 Worlds for the past 2 millenia are the still enigmatic, yet commonplace portals. Visually, they are not that spectacular: Semicircular arches of some smooth stone like granite or sandstone, with as base on the bottom. 1/9🏛️

#Septopolis 17 The giant scaffold forming a hollow hill that Cantarval is now built upon was made by a pleasantly bright stone that somehow was made resistant to erosion, though it can be worked with. High sweeping arches, reminiscent of the portals are featured throughout the city. 1/5🏗️

#Septopolis 16 Cantarval indeed was planned by the portal-builders, laying a foundation that somehow would last millenia. Somehow, they predicted what size it would need in the modern era, so back in the ancient times, the approx. 100km radius was considered epic and miraculous. 1/4📏

#Septopolis 13 Most of the 7 Worlds leaned into magic in the ancient ages, with varying explorations into (early) technology. Even after they all were connected via portals, magic advances were faster than technological ones, though there were always those who would mix up these domains. 1/7✨💻

#Septopolis 12 Being connected so tightly to other six worlds Cantarval came to enjoy variety in all of it's shapes, despite the challenges it brings, something the portal-builders seem to embrace and encourage. In this, the city is a counterweight to the hegemonial empires of Garius. 1/7💭

#Septopolis 10 All of the 7 Worlds have a varied distribution of species, so Cantarval, being connected to all of them easily, features a colourful mix of all of them. While Cantarval cherishes it's diversity, and never had absolutist rulers, social segmentation/striation remains an issue. 1/5📊

#Septopolis 9 Following their pattern of just creating things without ever giving a deeper explanation, or any for that matter, the name Cantarval was just how the portal-builders referred to this city, and thus its inhabitants and all of the 7 Worlds just adopted this name. 1/5📃

#Septopolis 8 It is no secret that the portal-builders founded Cantarval, but, as most things they did, this was a collective effort, and barely anyone of them ever ever was prominently on display, or made it into the historical records. Generally, their skill in blending in was unmatched. 1/9👥

#Septopolis 7 As Cantarval's foundations were built by those portal-builders, this is a hen-egg problem, and the records, and witnesses from long-living species cannot contribute much either. It is widely agreed upon that is was founded slightly after they began constructing the first portals 1/7🏳️

#Septopolis 6 The cliff-coast Cantarval is built upon can be considered a landmark, the almost gleamingly white granite is impossible to miss from the seaside, and the city is like luminous beacon on top of it. Especially now, the granite being used as projection-surface, it is unmissable. 1/6🏔️

# Septopolis 5 The lands immediately around Cantarval are well suited for agriculture for a range of specialized crops that thrive in this coastal climate, featuring this 1-day-autumn anomaly. Fresh water was harder to get, but extending the natural underground rivers provided this as well. 1/4⛏️

#Septopolis 4 Cantarval is perched ontop a rocky cliff-coast in a region boringly called "Portal-Coast", though it describes its main feature best: This slightly bay-shaped coastal region has the highest density of portals there is, both for land-, sky-, and sea-portals. 1/7 🗺️

As i carry around the entirety of my 7 Worlds Setting with me for a very long time, by now i find it hard to pinpoint specific inspirations, both for Cantarval and the setting as a whole. I am sure on later prompts there will be "oh this reminds me of [x]"-moments though! #Septopolis 3
