A crowdfunder to raise funds to save the last curlews in Oxfordshire is just 11% off its £25,000 target. The birds breed in Upper Thames wetlands, which are suffering from climate change. Local charity Wild Oxfordshire is working with farmers to restore their habitats.

Today we completed scything the 'wild' patch at Forest Side, as part of our long-term plans to make the area nicer to look at, while keeping it as a little biodiversity haven. In total it took only 12 scything hours to do whole patch! Scything is a wonderful new tool for us! For several reasons: /1

We'll meet at 10am (Sat Oct 18th) behind the bus stop next to the school, on the Avenue. But don't worry if you're arriving later - we won't be far and will be quite easy to find! Also, Apple Cafe will be there with hot drinks (and maybe their cakes as well?🤔) so you really don't want to miss it! 😀

Our Marsh Helleborines (Epipactis palustris) have been stunning this year. Originally a small colony mostly confined to the east of the Valley, thanks to our ongoing #FenRestoration work, they've spread and this year we probably have over 2000 flower spikes! #HelleborineChallenge #WildFlowerHour 🌍
