So about that turtle jaw i found last week..... Turns out it's actually the front of the lower jaw of Anzu wyliei, a weird oviraptorid theropod dinosaur in the Hell Creek Formation. Turtles are cool and all, but this is my first Anzu skull piece in 20+ field seasons! 🧪

I was JUST at this quarry yesterday. A few years ago I used the pop cans at the site to help correlate it to the dates of excavation. Here's a 1990-ish Diet Pepsi can... with NutriSweet! But also deinocheirids in Montana 76 million years ago is kinda cool too.

This little bigger was SO SCARY as he fake struck at me and shook his little tail. He then managed to get his tongue stuck to a rock (so the lick the fossil test DOES NOT work with squamates). So scary. Totally believable rattled. 10 outta 10. 🐍🐍🐍

This was one of the most bizarre projects to work on in Cretaceous Crossroads. I only had ever found pieces of sturgeon in the field, but someone discovered a whole one um, "lodged" up a duckbill. What a find, glad we could help get a copy on display.

This mosasaur jaw bone that got eaten by a shark than puked up again is a #MosasaurMonday vibe Since the teeth aren't covered in meat, they get annihilated first by shark stomach acid leaving holes in the bulbous root. The rest of the jaw is covered with gums and face so usually fares better 🧪

It's a furcula-filled #FossilFriday today Here's the real and complete furcula (wishbone) of Valerie, the T. rex I found back in 2022. While around 100 Tyrannosaurus specimens have been found to date, the furcula is very rare. I molded it as well so people can get copies for teaching collections 🦖🧪
