for testing, I changed my entire code base to one unity .c file. it takes about 0.4sec to do a full build. Normal separate builds take about 1.7~2sec, those can be reduced by using Unity builds from fastbuild to about 1.2~1.4 so still taking a hit :'(

Okay I'm even more impressed by Sharpmake and FastBuild. FastBuild has this feature called "Isolate Writable Files". It comes into play when you do Unity builds. It will remove/Isolate the files that have don't have the read only flag set. i.e if you are using P4 the files you have checked out.
