Ashikaga Flower Park's Grand Wisteria Festival opens Apr 11th, with over 350 wisteria plants and 5,000 azalea bushes in bloom. Evening illuminations begin Apr 15th. The festival runs through May 20th, with hours varying by bloom conditions. Ashikaga Flower Park is located in Ashikaga City, Tochigi

Her name's 'Narelle' and she started off in Queensland, then dumped on the Northern Territory and is now tracking along the West Oz coast. She's a Cat 4 and while she's over ocean she'll keep getting her knickers in a knot. Current max wind speed is 145kph and tracking SSW.

Start of autumn on the West Coast of Oz and already the evening sky is putting on a show. As the months roll on and the prescribed bush burning takes place, the air fills with smoke and ash (*cough*) and turn the setting sun skies a blood red.

"Merchant's Museum" - Kanazawa, Japan - Nov 2023. The floral display is approx 2x2 meters, not including the stand. There are 4 small birds within the display. All but the stand, is made of candy. Normal flower reporting will now resume. #flowerreport

Bees Honey bees zig-zag a couple of cms when they're about to land so they're relatively easy to track for an image. Blue Butt bees do the same but they approach at 1/3 the speed of light and zig-zag over 150-250 cms. #bluebuttbees

From My Neighbourhood. Actually, just over the road. Big-assed Norfolk Island Pine tree being removed, a piece at a time. They are not native to Australia so I won't be sad to see it go.

Thought about hiring a model to help improve my photo skills. Most are about $35/hr, you need to talk to them, keep them hydrated etc etc. I never make a decision on an empty stomach and thought a bagel would help me mull the potential.

Birbs Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys), juvenile (one of this seasons younglings)... his/her nest is about 3 meters to the right. Bossy little shit, flies around my place like they own it. I shall get closer.

From My Garden This is the bait. For 5 years I've been trying to photograph a native bee, the Blue Banded Bee, locally known as the Blue Butt Bee. BBBees love the flowers of "Gheisha Girl"; Duranta erecta. The only problem remaining is that BBBees are the F1s of the bee world. 2026 is the year!
