I just heard Hanna-Barbera composer Ted Nichols died back in January, at age 97. He was one of the last remaining golden-era H-B staffers around, and responsible for much of the music scored in the 1965-72 period, most notably "Scooby-Doo." This suspenseful track of his fits perfectly here...

As much flak "Caillou" gets, at least they had a much more realistic portrayal of a nighttime power outage from a snowstorm compared to "Arthur" in their "Blizzard" episode, and both shows were made by the same company! (Cinar/Cookie Jar) Still not as realistic as in "Poor Muffy", though!

Another thing "The Fairly OddParents" and "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" have in common; an episode where it starts using the old Disney "Castle Thunder" sound effect but abruptly shifts to a newer, realistic and louder thunder effect!

Hmph. Rubies/Mask Illusions is starting to cut corners. Their latex masks are now made in China instead of Mexico. This slightly inferior version of the latex Scooby-Doo mask will take some getting used to, but I like how it doesn't have a slit in the back anymore, so it has a tighter fit!
