It’s pub day!!!! My first book, Black Pro Se ( @uncpress.bsky.social ) is officially on the loose, and I’m so proud of this book that sits at the intersection of Black Studies, legal studies, & 19th-c. studies. I would love to be in conversation about it with you and your students.

My first book - Black Pro Se: Authorship and the Limits of Law in Nineteenth-Century African American Literature (UNC) is out next week! It is about Black legal imagination and freedom dreams forged in and through law’s unexpected corners and loopholes.
