I finally fucking managed to fix a problem that's been bugging me for more than a year, I finally understand how the fucking flver gets its transforms applied from an animation in DS2. On the left, old version with incorrect mesh transforms. On the right, new version that works properly.

For anybody using my Morpheme4 repo, update immediately. I found out that the morpheme lib does not work with optimizations turned on, so I changed the Release config to have optimizations disabled. Expect incorrect results if using optimizations.

I think I just figured out how to replace the whole game morpheme lib implementation with my own. By hooking up only three methods. If this works the next major version of debug manager will allow for very cool things.

Yesterday SteamDB exposed an early release version of PC Dark Souls 2, internally called Stable_10_0_FRPG2_Title. This release is dated March 8th 2014, which is one week before the PS3 title release and one month and a half before the PC. It does not have arxan, and can load engine config files.

And another piece of my soul goes away after playing Life is Strange. Highly recommend anybody who hasn’t played it to do so, one of the best games I’ve ever seen.

In the IGN debug footage for DS2 there was a clip of CPU and GPU budget being displayed as an overlay. I wanted to reimplement that. Here's the progress so far:

I finally figured out the right spot to place debug draw code. Right now, debug drawing gets antialiasing (which makes it look smoother) but not all the other post processing effects such as bloom, depth of field and motion blur. I believe I found the spot where the devs originally placed it.

Somebody asked me for help with bitmap font creation, for a Persian translation of the game, and ended up giving me a new program to generate bitmap fonts (called bmfont, which is avaiable for free). I made a new CCM tool to convert fnt to CCM, and the result is SO much better.

Managed to restore Void Engine console (not the in game console, that's different). This is an ugly ass console fr.

So... I kinda got bored, and decided to reverse engineer Dishonored 2. I can use the developer console (through CE for now), and made a simple program to redirect console output to the standard terminal. This took me 3 hours in total lol, cakewalk compared to DS2.

Fun fact: Iron Keep lava has two killplanes. Collisions here are colour coded, green is camera collision, red are killplanes. Also, a brief fun fact about killplanes themselves: touching them is not enough, you need to start falling to die.

I found very interesting code in the KatanaDrawScene initialisation routine. There are functions that set objects called MetaInfo to filter classes. These are functions that dictate how the filterparam is read, and where to store each value. (1/2)

I'm refactoring DebugManager's code that uses FromSoft's GuiFramework, and I asked myself: "How did they handle debug windows that read data and that data got deallocated?" So I looked at how DS3 does it, and the answer is simple. They don't.

DS2 does not provide us with the code for the GUITexture viewer. No problem, I looked how it works in DS3 and ported it over. It's almost done, it's missing the actual texture draw code. It's not supposed to be black, but I need to figure out how that works first in DS3

Found some more debug draw code leftover in the game.. but I'm not sure what these are supposed to be. It has to do with models, specifically a class called MdlObj in the Flver namespace. If anybody here is familiar with the format and has something to say, they're welcome to do so

I'm almost finished porting the old code to use the game's drawing engine. Now the worst part, which is choosing new debug draw colours cause the shader effect they apply nukes pretty much all transparency effects and makes everything brighter...

Figured out how to 100% use the game rendering engine. I'm redoing all debug drawing using that. The blur you see here is cause the game is applying motion blur at this stage of rendering
