Just spotted a juvenile Bald Eagle fly over the yard, my first time seeing one in flight! There was so much white on its belly I initially mistook it for an Osprey 🦅

Bluebirds are moving in! Several couples have been checking out the boxes along our fence recently, but one pair has been returning to the same box the bast 3 days. Here is a male Bluebird keeping watch while the female was inside #birds

Bluebirds have been checking out our boxes for 2 days in a row now! We doubled the bird houses from 4 to 8 this year, so hopefully we have some luck! 🪺

Mr Downy Woodpecker was so busy yesterday! Between trips to the suet feeders they are drumming on big trees nearby. 🪶

Just heard the first Northern Flicker of the season! It called several times over the course of 2-3 minutes in the woods near the yard.

Possible first signs of a Brown Thrasher in central PA! Merlin detected it multiple times this morning, and I heard it myself, but cannot confirm with a picture (yet).

A local Carolina Wren gathering nesting materials. The same wren has been working on a nest nearby for a few days now.

My first #WoodpeckerWednesday on BlueSky! Just watched 2 pairs of downy woodpeckers squabble over whose turn it was at the lone suet feeder, while a female red-bellied watched on from above.

Ruby-throated #hummingbird reports are on the rise across the Gulf Coast. In a matter of weeks, they will be widespread across the eastern US as they migrate northward!

It might be cold and snowy today in Pennsylvania, but that didn’t stop a chickadee from checking out the new bird houses!
