Colin Kaepernick was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.In 2016, Kaepernick remained seated during the US national anthem. His sitting was a protest against systemic racism. Out of respect for the US military, his protest changed from sitting to kneeling.

Michael Richards was an American sculptor who used his art to explore African American history and folklore. He received a studio residency located on floor 92 of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. Richards was killed while working in his studio on September 11, 2001.
