In love with this book, Pemmy’s Alphabet Book, made in 1942-5 in the Japanese internment camp Brastagi in east Sumatra. Though handiwork & books were banned, Mies Aalbersberg & other women embroidered the book as a birthday gift to Mies’ daughter Pem Hagers. Pem donated it to the Rijksmuseum in 2018

I has my fingers 'fixed' as I told my partner today. For me, tattoos are a radical act of self love (among other things). This was my first time getting hand poke tattoos. She updated my faded fingers and added a little more for now. Radically love yourself. It's okay to be different.

Having a rough time today. So —I cleaned, organized, took care of my m. health. Now I'm spinning the 2nd bobbin of this LARGE spin. I decided to #spin top over the fold and I'm happy with that choice! I'm enjoying top again! Ive found that I hold my #fiber very diff. in my hand for this technique.

Hand prepping fleece tonight. This is from a Shetland sheep who lives on a farm about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. I purchased this from fleece from my friend — this shetland's name is Sassafras!!! Bags of hand opened locks from this fleece will be available at Nashfest in Nashville, TN 😉
