What you have to consider in the fascistic mindset is that there are only winners and losers. It’s why Trump could never admit defeat. Now that Orbán is defeated by such a margin that even he had to accept it, his stock with Trump and MAGA international will likely be very low.

This is a really important point. Just as the new Hungarian government will have a major challenge in dismantling Orbán’s state (and ignoring any impulse to keep it for its own ends), the efforts to defend and ensure the EU’s democratic resilience will also have to continue with the same impetus.

I reckon Trump is tired of Vance moping around or being the touch of death abroad, so is now trying to engineer a MAGA Catholic Church which he can put Vance in charge of.

It’s funny how when Trump is throwing insults at the Pope, the words he uses intended as insults are essentially paraphrases of those used by Jesus in the beatitudes: blessed are the meek, … blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, etc.
