IMAX opening in WA, we won 🌚

Finished Corruption. I think people remember it worse than it was (and people remember Prime 2 better than it was 👀) but overall it felt less Metroid-y with a huge reliance on menus rather than organic exploration. But still had some great moments and cool places to explore.

Now on to #MetroidPrime3. The opening is a stark difference to the first two games, setting the tone for what's to come - though I haven't played this since launch, so it's kind of new to me. Really grating and slow intro, but also a really cool battle with a familiar face.

Finished with Metroid Prime 2. A lot more annoyances I found with it than I remember - some of the bosses are truly dreadful and navigating Dark Aether can be cumbersome - but it has a vibe and mood to it that's unlike any of the other games. Not my favourite, but still fun.

We should all take great solace that nothing in Metroid Prime 4 will be as bad as these....hopefully. #MetroidPrime2

Tried out Metroid Prime 2 on PrimeHack today and have made some good progress - mainly because I want to see how these games hold up today, having not played them anywhere near recently. With the improvements and the right texture packs, you can make these games look pretty good.

Making it my personality for the rest of this generation that I think Kirby Air Riders is a much better game than Mario Kart World in practically every way 💁🏼‍♂️ It's a fun, hectic and great looking game that delivers in many ways, no matter solo or with mates.

Had great fun chatting to Kumazawa-san about all things Resident Evil and Requiem. It sounds like they're really listening to fan feedback and this should be one of the most unique Resident Evils so far, which I can only hope for after having played these games for close to three decades.

The reaction to the NPCs in Metroid Prime 4 is completely understandable but I have a feeling, maybe, that after a certain point they will be optional to interact with. I hope. I don't believe that the team at Retro have this fundamental a misunderstanding of what Metroid is.

Enjoying Age of Imprisonment much more than I expected in practically every aspect but the fact that it's canon means that the team can't go as weird with all the playable characters and as a result I'm stuck playing as random glup shitto hylians, zora, gorons etc which ain't it.

Isn't it FUNNY AND INTERESTING that the YouTubers who somehow always get Nintendo Switch games "early" haven't been able to secure themselves any early copies of Switch 2 games like Bananza and Age of Imprisonment. I wonder why 🧐🤓

Finishing up my backlog. My latest was LUTO. It's a weird little PT-like (is this a genre now?) mixed with Stanley Parable-esque storytelling to tell a story about death. It has strong atmosphere, barely any jump scares and plenty of persisting unease that I really vibed with.

Reading the latest sales updates from Capcom, it's kind of wild how much this has had an effect on the Devil May Cry series at large. Always wondering what the devs will do with Itsuno gone, but I feel like they should definitely do something.

Got knocked into hospital by a kidney stone BUT it's given me time to play #PokemonZA properly and roll credits last night. It's good! It does a lot differently once it gets going, but it takes SO LONG to do so. First Pokemon game I've been intrigued enough to finish since BW.

Deus Ex is probably my favourite game ever that I've wanted a remaster of for AGES and we finally get that and it's a fugly Aspyr treatment 😭😭😭

Finished up Alien Earth. Disastrous. Some really strong elements (that eye has so much potential), but this feels like something tailor-made for people who unironically enjoyed Alien Resurrection and Alice having psychic powers in the Resident Evil movies. IT STARTED SO STRONG :(

ADORED Silent Hill f. An incredibly pleasant (though harrowing) surprise that manages to breathe new life into the series while somehow remaining true to the core of the authentic Silent Hill experience. Well worth your time, there's truly nothing like it. 🌸🦊

Reading people's early feelings about Silent Hill f, it's baffling to me how many played Silent Hill 2 and assumed every game in the series is about the same shit that SH2 is. SH is so much more than SH2! Trying to emulate SH2 is what got us Homecoming & Downpour and.....y'know.

Finished Cronos: The New Dawn. It's tough but manageable for anyone who knows the genre. Overall, loved it, even if story falls apart considerably. It's also not replayable nor fun to speed run, which is disappointing. But very happy with its incredible combat and thick atmosphere. High recommend.

Overall though, okay direct. Very solid first half. Very quickly deteriorated in the second half. Fatal Frame looks incredible, chuffed to see that franchise still living and breathing and in such a nice way too. Yoshi _looks_ incredible, though hope the gameplay loop is good.

I've never been more suspicious of Metroid Prime 4 after that showing. I don't know how to put it. It feels like at this point (might change, ofc) Nintendo is just putting it out with little fanfare. I dunno man. All the new stuff (Psychic, motorcycle) look very half baked 😫

Continuing with Cronos: The New Dawn, which isn't getting enough attention, and it's STILL delivering. It's a well-considered blend of Dead Space and RE4, with an intriguing story and simple but satisfying combat. Thick as fuck atmosphere too. Love it. Chuffed for Bloober.
