When we too are tempted by greed and indifference, the many “Lazaruses” of today remind us of Jesus’ words. They serve as an effective catechesis for us, especially during this Jubilee, which is a time of conversion and forgiveness, commitment to justice, and sincere search for peace.

The story that Christ tells in the #GospelOfTheDay (Lk 16:19-31) is sadly very relevant today. How many Lazaruses die before the greed that forgets justice, profits that trample on charity, and riches that are blind to the pain of the poor!

God reveals himself to those who are simple and humble of heart because they are open to receiving him. Their docility gives them great insight into the faith and enables them to follow the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. 1/

In a world where the most vulnerable are the first to suffer the devastating effects of climate change, deforestation, and pollution, care for creation becomes an expression of our faith and humanity. #SeasonOfCreation

The #GospelOfTheDay (Lk 16:1-13) invites us to ask ourselves how we are managing material goods, the resources of the earth, and our very lives that God has entrusted to us. We can follow the way of selfishness, placing wealth above all else and thinking only of ourselves. 1/3

In the #GospelOfTheDay (Lk 16:1–13), Jesus sets forth a stark alternative between God and wealth, asking us to take a clear and consistent stand. “No servant can serve two masters”; therefore, “you cannot serve God and wealth.” 1/

Evangelical justice does not detract from human justice, but rather questions and reshapes it, challenging it to go ever further in pursuit of reconciliation.

Living synodality in the #Family requires “walking together,” sharing sorrows and joys, engaging in respectful and sincere dialogue among all members, and learning to listen to one another and make important family decisions together.

I express my profound closeness to the Palestinian people in Gaza, who continue to live in fear and to survive in unacceptable conditions, forced once again from their own lands. 1/3

We live as if life were never enough. We rush to produce, to prove ourselves, to keep up. But the Gospel teaches us that knowing how to stop is an act of trust that we must learn to perform. Life does not always depend on what we do, but also in knowing how to let go of what we have been able to do.

At times we seek quick answers, immediate solutions. But God works in depth, in the slow time of trust.

Many brothers and sisters, even today, carry the same cross as our Lord on account of their witness to the faith in difficult situations and hostile contexts. Like Him, they are persecuted, condemned and killed. Theirs is an unarmed hope. 1/

Through His cross, Jesus revealed to us the true face of God, His infinite compassion for humanity. He took upon Himself the hatred and violence of the world, to share the lot of all those who are humiliated and oppressed.

Dear friends, today I turn seventy years old. I give thanks to the Lord and to my parents; and I thank all those who have remembered me in their prayers.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross: for the immense love with which God has transformed the means to death into an instrument of life, embracing it for our salvation, teaching us that nothing can separate us from him and that his love is greater than our own sin.

I would like that today we may together begin to build a culture of reconciliation. We must meet one another, heal our wounds, and forgive the wrongs we did and did not do, but whose effects we still carry. There are no enemies — only brothers and sisters. 1/

The “globalization of indifference” Pope Francis warned about now seems to have become a globalization of powerlessness. Faced with injustice and innocent suffering, we are more aware — but risk doing nothing, overcome with a feeling of helplessness.

There are so many victims — mothers, children — whose cries rise from the depths of the Mare Nostrum, not only to heaven but to our hearts. Many migrant brothers and sisters rest in the soil of #Lampedusa like seeds, waiting to sprout into a new world.

Fraternity is the most authentic name for closeness. It means rediscovering the face of the other. For those who believe, they recognize the Mystery: the very image of God in the face of the poor, the refugee and even the adversary. #HumanFraternity

Jesus became poor to make us rich (2 Cor 8:9). He has shown us the way of God, who does not reveal Himself to us in power, but in the love of a Father who calls us into communion with Himself.

Let us #PrayTogether for the children of Ukraine, Gaza, and other regions of the world affected by war. May we entrust children suffering today to the protection of Mary, Queen of Peace.

We face moments when holding things inside can slowly consume us. Jesus teaches us not to be afraid to cry out, as long as our cry is sincere, humble, and directed to the Father. A cry is never pointless, if it is born of love. And it is never ignored, if it is entrusted to God.

To the intercession of the Saints and the Virgin Mary, we entrust our unceasing prayer for peace, especially in the Holy Land and Ukraine, and in every other land blood-stained by war. To those in power, I repeat: listen to the voice of conscience!

Saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are an invitation to all of us, especially young people, not to squander our lives, but to direct them upwards and make them masterpieces.

Cultivating our heart takes effort. It is the greatest work. Yet by digging deep and humbling ourselves, we draw ever closer to the Lord, who emptied Himself to become like us.

The Laudato si’ Village is a seed of hope that Pope Francis has left us as a legacy, a “seed that can bear fruits of justice and peace.”

Care for creation is a true vocation for every human being. Our commitment must be carried out within creation itself, never forgetting that we are creatures among creatures, not the Creator. #SeasonOfCreation

For believers, the future is not one of walls and barbed wire, but one of mutual acceptance.

Peace is on the agenda of international leaders, and is the subject of global discussions. Yet sadly, peace often gets reduced to a mere slogan. We need to cultivate peace in our own hearts and in our relationships, to let it blossom in our daily actions.

As dramatic news arrives from Sudan, especially Darfur, I am closer than ever to the Sudanese people, in particular families, children, and the displaced. I pray for all the victims, and I make a heartfelt appeal to leaders and the international community to guarantee humanitarian corridors...
