The swallow-tailed kites have begun to arrive in Tampa Bay after wintering in South America. This one grabbed a lizard and shared it with its mate who was perched in a tree. Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever seen one in a tree- these raptors spend most of their time in the air. #birds

Yesterday I watched this cormorant try to swallow this catfish for at least 15 minutes. There was a pattern: the bird surfaced, tossed the fish around, dropped it, dove back under and re-emerged with it. This hard-to -watch scene didn’t end well for the catfish. #birds #wildlife #Floridabirds
