Some of Steam reviews and Before You Buy videos gave me a decent idea of what to expect: -Wukong isn't a soulslike, just some souls-y elements, no parry system -Wuchang is a 100% soulslike with some minor mechanical additions and optional parry system I'm still a bit torn but leaning towards monke

Wuchang and Black Myth Wukong are on sale and I'm considering getting them, but I hate parry-centric combat with my entire being, so to anyone who's familiar with these games, which one has less of this?

#Febchantment Have more rambling thoughts on this: a lot of magic going wrong in fantasy seems to be rooted in mechanical terms of energy expenditure, e.g. overloads, radiation, instability. The secularization of magic is both a fascinating modern development and a lessening of the idea imo.

Not that this isn't all dangerous marketing bullshit and circlejerking but the idea of corpos flaunting that they made a brand new sapient lifeform and are publically enslaving and trafficking it should horrify everyone

#Febchantment Hot take ahead: I'm not the biggest fan of "magic hurts you/drives you mad/etc". Demiurge magic follows a certain logic and has no rules to break, so the real danger is someone actually pulls something off but due to a lack of focus, muddled intent, or arrogance, it goes too right. 1/2

#AwesomeCharacters They tend to develop organically over time, I start with a character concept (Conan but wizard, swordsman with spectral arm, very tired guard who keeps getting promotions) and a personality will generally emerge from that and/or their situations.

NO ONE Carloman was too busy achieving enlightenment. He's never been with anyone and never will. His first and only love is the world and its people, for whom he will do anything. Sepp from The Path of Poison will end up similar for Reasons. That boy's got a weird future ahead of him.

This movie fuckin rocks. The 70s and 80s were the peak age of Hong Kong martial arts cinema, but the 90s produced a number of particularly slick gems like this bad boy here. More comedy than kung fu, but it's funny as hell and when there are fights? Satisfying and stylish. Big recommend.

About a quarter of the way through now, predictably great. Vibes are immaculate, art is disgusting and smelly. Character selection might be my favourite bit so far, the idea, like in Vermis 1, of using a character select to subtly introduce major world concepts is really fun. Very Dark Souls.
