In 2D Mario platformers, Mario can either crouch or slide, but is denied the ability to sit in place. However, with a specific setup in Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario will come to rest in a sliding animation, finally allowing him to simply sit.

In Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Polterguys are Shy Guys that turn into blocks. Due to the game's camera using massive amounts of foreshortening, they must compensate for it. To appear perfectly cubical, they are actually immensely long.

the cook serve delicious games are great because they’re presented as a fun, cutesy little boredom killer in every single way and then you play the game and it kicks your ass. and it has a great soundtrack

In Super Mario World, green berries increase the timer. By strategically eating them to make the timer pass 100 multiple times, the music can be sped up repeatedly. It turns out that the music engine cannot handle more than 20 speed-ups, and slows down to a crawl instead.
