Eileithiya the Greek goddess of childbirth. Not much is given to her description or symbolic associations in ancient writing and art, so I leaned into the practice of midwifery to make her design feel more meaningful.

The Marvel Swimsuit Special is back today after decades! I was super into comics as a kid & for some reason I loved seeing my favorite comic characters lounging in swimsuit versions of their costumes. Here's a piece I did last year of Cyclops & Wolverine that definitely captures that spirit.

Khonsu is an Ancient Egyptian god of the moon. In the Cannibal Hymn, Khonsu disembowels other gods and provides their end-trails to the deceased pharaoh so that he may gain their immortality. He is often depicted as either falcon-headed or a mummified child so I decided to split the difference.

Artemis as undersea huntress. I found an article that spoke of an Arcadian shrine to a fish-tailed Artemis. This claim seemed dubious, but the image of Artemis as an underwater huntress took hold! She wears a fish scale alopekis and has seals as her companions as they are the dogs of the sea.

Sisters of the sea. A siren plays a jaunty tune for a harpy and a nereid. The ancient Greek ideas of sirens and harpies often get overshadowed, so I wanted to make an illustration distinguishing them from one another.

How utterly disappointing it is indeed to see an academic work use an AI image on its cover.

The Peter Jackson LotR movies was my gateway into Tolkien, and they are still very close to my heart, but very little brings me more joy than making and seeing non-Jackson inspired Tolkien art, especially if there's an ancient world flair to it.

All three of my Greek Mythology inspired DnD characters: A cleric of Aphrodite, a Warlock with Hekate Brimo as his patron, and a Circle of the Sea Half-Nereid Druid.

The last (for now?!) of my Greek Mythology inspired DnD Character designs. This is a Circle of the Sea Druid. He is Half-Fey, with his mother being a Nereid and his father a human. He's got some Minoan style vibes and a giant seahorse familiar. Who could ask for more?

I've been watching @dimension20.bsky.social Neverafter, which reimagines popular fairy tales in a horror setting. I made a shortlist of characters I could interpret, but ultimately I went for Hansel, a boy with a haunted past, penchant for magic, and an uncharacteristic aversion to sweets.

Say what you want, but I've been seeing zero beauty with the Christopher Nolan's Odyssey adaptation set pictures.... What happened to the glamour? It also occurred to me that there's a bunch of people probably don't know what the costumes should look like, so I did some quick studies.

I started Dimension 20: A Court of Fey & Flowers as something to watch while finishing up an illustration, and instead of doing that I came up with my own court and hierarchy of Fey domains.

In honor of #PokemonDay I took a break from a druid I was drawing to do a half-orc circle of spores druid based on Ivysaur. I found out too late that the ghost pipe on his back while parasitic, isn’t a fungus & also doesn’t photo synthesize… so it wouldn’t be good for solar beam. That’s showbiz!

Continuing with my Ancient Greek DnD aesthetic we have a fiendish Warlock whose patron is Hekate Brimo, the vengeful and terrifying aspect of the goddess Hekate. He also has a snake familiar that yearns for destruction, but that's neither here nor there.

My cleric of Aphrodite is packed with symbolic details that relate to the origins and worship of his patron goddess. I've detailed them all in in this graphic.

I’ve been slowly getting more and more into DnD and once I found out that you could make whatever kind of world you wanted, my brain, as it so often does, went immediately to Greek Mythology. This is my imagining of a human cleric of Aphrodite.

Perseus

Ive been gravitating towards Archaic fashion but I can't shake depicting Dionysus as beardless. To compensate I've developed a headcanon that he wears a mask around mortals because he's afraid of revealing his divine form & doesn't want to lose anyone in the same way he lost his mother.

Update to this piece. I have just been informed that it is Odysseus in the kylix striking that saucy little pose which is objectively 1,000 times more hilarious.
