I was just sorting all the pics I took over the summer when I sorted all the stuff in storage. Here's a little batch of small press comics from the 2000s.

Who likes small press mini-comics? Zines? This is one that's made by folding 8.5x11 in half along the 11 inches. You don't see that too often. I did one myself years ago.

New Avengers trailer looks typical and uninteresting. But I'm neither mad or surprised by it. If you've never read Marvel or DC comics over the many, many years then you might not understand that this is what comic DO. Nobody really dies. Nobody really goes away. Not while there is stuff to sell.

Calvin & Hobbes and Bloom County were the only newspaper comics I cared about. Even as a kid, the lameness of Family Circus and Marmaduke was obvious. I had no words for it other than "I don't like them much". But C&H? I couldn't get enough. Here's a Spaceman Spiff I drew.

My earliest #TTRPG design was a series of 3 maps inspired by the 1 session of D&D I witnessed + the board game Fantasy Forest. The maps had encounters and treasures peppered along them. Monsters had a number and you had to pull chits out of a bowl. If you beat the number, you win the fight.

In this episode, Papa has concocted another potion. He's giving it to Dreamy Smurf and telling him it is a Potion of Giant Strength... but it's actually a Potion of Sleep. Deceptive for a Lawful Good. The number of times Papa engages in ethically questionable potion-dispensing is shocking.

It's Saturday morning so I'm watching The Smurfs. In this smurfisode, Dreamy Smurf gets super fucking bored of Smurf life and decides to go on a bit of a smurfabout. Papa Smurf smurfs up a magic potion that robs Gargy of his free will, turning him into a Smurf-lover. Hardcore shit like that.

I have sung the praises of Slift's 2019 Ummon album (in my top 5 all time faves). But their follow up Ilion is phenomenal. Absolutely fucking amazing. This is art. This is a "put on earphones, turn off the lights, and lose yourself in a journey" kind of album. Heavy psych experimental epic

I've been playtesting a sci-fantasy #TTRPG called #ZSF. It's space fun. So far, it's going well. The group has helped me identify a few hiccups and weaknesses in the rules, which is exactly the kind of thing you want from a playtest. We're only about 3 sessions in, so I can't say too much yet.

Blogging a bit this morning about #GOZR. I haven't been thinking about the game in a while but it suddenly loomed large in my brain and I wanted to talk about some of the mechanics and why I chose to do it this way.

Perhaps my favorite blog post of all time. Super influential on how I think about adventure games because it resonated perfectly with my instincts about sword and sorcery gaming. #TTRPG #swordandsorcery Tl;Dr: Hack of OSR to use one adventurer class that levels up thief, fighter, or wiz per choice.

I did the cover for Million-Colored Sun in 2024. The art was originally meant to be the city Kanebok from my Black Pudding setting of Yria. But that's just my own lore. In the end the unfinished piece was finished up for this cool sword & sorcery game. It's a rules lite #TTRPG, a tool kit for gaming

Anybody out there have this book? Diva Satanica by Glittering Images. It's a large format softcover book with lots of cool occult shit in it like vampire movies and stuff. I bought it instantly 20 years ago when I saw the Chichoni cover. It fucking rules.

I like #TTRPGs with simple systems and a lot of tables and lists of stuff. I like stuff lists. Idea generators. That's why I do games like #GOZR. Sci-fantasy. Robots, wizards, and ruins. I had a hell of a lot of fun making this stupid game. I really hope I can return to it some day and do another.

"Computer generated" isn't the same as "generative AI". People usually just mean "they used a computer as a tool". Which is fine... it's a fucking tool, folks. You use tools to make stuff. The problem isn't using a digital tool... problem is when you use generative AI. So don't fucking do that.
