Discord put out a blog post today to talk about their recent age gating controversy, but they still just don't seem to get it. The post reads as the typical "We made mistakes, but we'll do better" explanation post, but the TL;DR ends up being that they're still going ahead with it.

Finally put a wrap on the Turn-based Pillars of Eternity playthrough I'd been working on today. I think it ended up being somewhere close to 110h overall. There ended up being a bit of side content that I didn't do, but I expect that would've only added ~15-20h at the pace I was going.

The closer I get to the end of my current Pillars of Eternity playthrough, the more excited I get about playing Deadfire. Been doing a lot of thinking about who I might take for party members, what class setups to use, etc. Just hoping the excitement lasts since there's still a ways to go yet.

It took a while but I've finally finished the Mass Effect Andromeda playthrough that I started back on N7 day, and I don't think I can properly vocalize how much I love that game. It does so much right for me, and generally feels like the kind of game that Mass Effect 1 wanted to be.

Despite my having found the final few Zerg missions in Starcraft Broodwar to be quite rough, so much so that I was debating putting SC2 on hold, I've actually found myself wanting to play more SC2 several times over the last 4 or 5 days. It's a pleasant surprise after Broodwar.

Seems that the weather has decided to turn cold for winter, starting a few days ago. It's been cold the last 3 or 4 days, and the forecast is calling for it to stay cold over the next week. Already seeing -30c with windchill, so I am not feeling very hopeful for a mild winter.

Finished up the second campaign in Demeo X D&D: Battlemarked earlier and I'm very pleasantly surprised. Each campaign only took ~10 hours to get through, making them easily digestable, while also feeling suitably epic as an overall thing. I'm really looking forward to seeing more in the future!

Been watching someone play the Trials of Mana remake for the first time recently, and it's been making me want to play it again. I absolutely adore both the remake and the fan translation of the original version, so feeling a desire and like I have a reason to play it again is really gratifying.

Demeo x D&D: Battlemarked is really scratching an itch for me when it comes to something I've always wanted. I love CRPG style games (Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity, etc.) but one thing about them is that they are, at least as far as the ones I've played, very long term investments.

Got my covid and flu shots yesterday, both in my left arm. I'm right handed so figured left arm would be the smart choice to, but I miscalculated... I seem to mostly sleep on my left side! Didn't actually disrupt my sleep too much, but it might be a problem tonight if the arm pain is still there.

Have an appointment to go get Flu and Covid vaccines tomorrow, so I'm hoping that goes well. It's usually not a problem, I might have a sore arm (specifically around the injection site) for 1-2 days afterwards, but I'd rather deal with that than getting horribly sick for a longer period of time.

Been having a bit of a rough time mentally the last few days. Trying to not let it get to me, because I can realize that the thoughts and feelings are irrational, but that doesn't make getting through it any easier.

Contrary to my earlier thinking, I do not appear to have adapted to the time change. I woke up earlier than normal yesterday, and had a harder time getting to sleep last night! I did wake up around my usual time this morning, but I feel tired (that's my secret cap, I always feel tired).

Woke up super early today for reasons that I'm unsure of, and it means being more sleepy than usual. Maybe it's a sign that I'm adapting to the time change? I dunno. It didn't really change anything in the end though, as it took so long to feel awake that I didn't get up until around the usual time

Having replayed a fair amount of Mass Effect: Andromeda recently, it's reinforced my feelings about the game... which is that it's the best Mass Effect game. It very much feels like what Mass Effect 1 wanted to be, but just wasn't able to pull off because of whatever limitations existed at the time.

Getting back into streaming semi regularly over the last month or two after a long hiatus has reminded me just how tiring it can be. It's still fun mind you, I wouldn't do it if it wasn't, but streaming for 6 or 7 hours generally leaves me feeling exhausted afterwards.

Turns out that the Turn-Based gamemode that had been hinted as being added to Pillars of Eternity earlier this year has a beta test opening up as of tomorrow! As one of the backers for PoE, and as a fan of CRPGs in general, I'm so glad to see the game getting updated this many years after release.

Daylight savings has now ended in NA and all my clocks get to be an hour off until I stop being lazy and change them. What fun. Why are we still doing this shit?

Something I keep coming back to as a "want" for a game is just... more short-form RPGs in the fantasy genre. Not every RPG needs to be some 100+ hour endeavour. Like... I'd really love to see some 30-40 hour CRPG's along the lines of Icewind Dale / Baldur's Gate.
