I surprisingly enjoyed RENTAL FAMILY The "stranger in a strange land" aspect fits with the themes of being desperate to find meaning & connection (even if artificial) and the pacing was just right due to the engagement. Absolutely deserves it's spot as an awards season contender

One thing I love about the NYC Mayoral Race is that crazy cat man Sliwa clearly DESPISES Cuomo and is more interested in bashing him than he is in opposing Mamdani (that and he's the more entertaining opponent to Zohran compared to the more boring Adams & Cuomo)

It's interesting how Zohran Mamdani and Gavin Newsom are such opposite ends of the same successful anti-Trump spectrum; One utilizes East Coast grounded-ness and substance while the other uses West Coast aggression and spectacle

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER and GOOD FORTUNE make for a surprisingly fitting leftist double-feature One being an anti-fascist thriller dramedy and the other being a pro-worker/union comedy

My criteria for what would make a good Democratic candidate in 2028 is; "Can I picture him telling Trump to 'Shut the hell up' to his face in a debate?" Walz, Pritzker, and even Newsom all meet this criteria. Beshear and Buttigieg do not.

The Monkey: "Final Destination" if it was made by the Coen brothers in a bad mood The film has a dark quirky cruel sense of humor as the kills are over-the-top but there's barely any likeable characters

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! For the holiday I HIGHLY recommend the Romcom-Slasher film, "Heart Eyes" The movie works because it perfectly executes & balances the Slasher AND Romcom elements; The kills are gory & fun (a la "Scream") but the leads have FANTASTIC chemistry

Paddington in Peru: Everyone's favorite Marmalade-loving bear is as charming as ever and Antonio Banderas is alot of fun, but Paul King's absence can be felt as it lacks quite a bit of the precise witty symmetry of the first 2 movies

For #BlackHistoryMonth I want to shine a light on the Deacons for Defense and Justice; A Black self-defense group in 1960s Louisiana that successfully used arms to protect civil rights workers from the KKK and Jim Crow cops (also made into a 2003 TV movie starring Forest Whitaker)
