I am back from Too Many Games and I had an amazing time seeing so many wonderful friends and chatting with lots of amazing folks. Glad to be back home and resting though now. Here's what I picked up.

I played this. It's awesome. Because it's Rhythm Heaven. I will say, not sure if it's just the demo but it does seem like this one has a lower budget than Fever on the Wii. Like the menus and stuff are very bare bones. Not a big deal though.

I've said it so many times before but I'll continue to say it. The smartest thing Nintendo has ever done is to get out of the console power/tech war.

Happy to have finally been able to pick this up physically. Tango Gameworks deserved better for Hi-Fi Rush.

I wish I understood the just absolute massive appeal of GTA but I do not. I thought the PS2 games were fun and very impressive but the critical and player reception to GTA IV was just an enigma to me. And GTA V also didn't grab me.

I played the Star Fox Switch 2 demo. I think it rules...

We've seen like two seconds of young Link in OoT and I understand being hesitant about the art style but it's also funny to me how much negativity there is based off just that (Nintendo's fault btw for not showing enough). I remember a time when people were losing their minds (positively) over this:

Ocarina of Time 3D came out less than 13 years after the original. It will be over 15 years between Ocarina of time 3D and the Switch 2 version.

Very confused by how Nintendo showed off so little of a couple huge games coming out this year but overall a good direct. Lots of big third party games and I'm very excited for Switch Sports Resort but I assume people are still going to be upset about no 3D Mario even though we got DK last year.

If there's no Incredible Crisis 2 announced at the Nintendo Direct I will consider it a failure.

I hate generative AI and a lot of things related to AI in general but there is a lot more nuance about the conversation around it than a lot of people seem to want to understand. I really think there needs to be extremely detailed disclosure laws and regulations sometime in the near future.

I hope they announce games at the Nintendo Direct tomorrow

My man just chillin in the closet

Xbox showcase definitely impressed me. Probably my favorite show of the entire summer game fest period. My grades for the shows I got to catch: Playstation State of Play - C Summer Game Fest Show - B Wholesome Direct - B Future Games Show - B Xbox Games showcase - A

I did not get into Wilds very much at all. Something about it just didn't feel as good to me as previous Monster Hunter games. Maybe I'll give it another go on Switch 2 though.

Hard to believe the Switch 2 is already a year old. For me the software lineup was fantastic. Can't wait to see what year two has to offer.

This game has been nuts

I can check off going to a Stanley Cup Final game from the bucket list.

I did not get my whimsy ;-; Rayman and Kemuri looked cool but man kind of a rough showing when one of my favorite things was Gitaroo Man being released for the PS Classics collection. Maybe a hot take as well but there is no need for a 20 minute gameplay demo in a state of play presentation.

This was such a cool video. I had no idea there was a homebrew scene for the e-Reader and hearing from the actual devs is awesome!

CarPlay support is huge. And if the Mario Kart World soundtrack gets added it's over lol.

For the PlayStation presentation tomorrow I would just like one singular fun whimsical game akin to Astro Bot or dare I say Ape Escape from Sony. Just one. The rest can be cinematic third person action adventure games.

I love Japanese video games

This game was announced in 2020. Companies really need to do a better job of announcing things when they're actually ready. Obviously things happen during development but that's why you hold off. All of the big 3 are guilty of this in some form but MS was always particularly bad about it.

I haven't beaten it yet but I think Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is incredible. It's so weird and inventive with all the crazy creatures and mechanics. It has the type of creativity you expect but don't always get in the Mario series. It perfectly closes the chapter on a GREAT year 1 for Switch 2.

I was driving and Rip and Tear from Doom came on. Immediately after the flower garden theme from Yoshi's Island played. The whiplash made me chuckle.

So extremely hyped for this!!!!

How have the HD versions of the original Professor Layton trilogy been stuck on mobile this whole time?

Ok this is pretty awesome I'm not gonna lie. A lot nicer than holding up my phone to a screen to translate things if I need to.

That digital adoption number is so disheartening to me. I imagine it partially has so do with Capcom counting game key cards on switch 2 as digital but the digital share was still 90% last fiscal year.

I still don't think we as a collective praise Mario Kart World's soundtrack enough for how unbelievable it is.

At least 70,000 3DS games sold within the past year according to Nintendo's financial data lol Gotta wonder where these brand new 3DS games are still being sold.

I'm sorry to all my Star Fox (2026) hater friends but the more I see the new game the more dope I think it looks. Genuinely can't believe the production values coming from a Nintendo game. And for Star Fox no less. I do hope it leads to something new though.
