Having read some of the anti comments arguments (but not enough) my feeling is that the different levels of coding, and sizes of projects require different styles. <10,000 lines of data analysis script, not maintained by large or ongoing teams, comments make sense to me.

Just looking through my list of peer reviews I've conducted. About 25 with the first ones in 2015. So 2.5 a year but with much fewer in the early years. Guess I should do a bit more really. I've done shadow reviews with lots of my students/staff. It's a great thing to do, highly recommended.
