Two great things happened on Christmas Eve. 🥰 First, every client at the Pods (self contained modular homes) received a wrapped Christmas gift, thanks to the generosity of shoppers in Primark, Reading. Support staff are on site 24/7 so were able to give them to clients on Christmas Day. 🌲

Reading Borough Council has today extended the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) until Wednesday when it will be reviewed again. It has been in place since New Year’s Eve to prevent people sleeping on the streets when conditions are unsafe to do so.

In 2026 we will continue to create lasting change for people who find themselves homeless in Reading. We will invest in properties, securing safe and stable homes for those who need them the most. Our homes are the foundation for recovery, independence and hope.

We may be enjoying mild weather right now, but as a homeless charity we are always thinking about anyone who is on the streets when the temperature drops. Thanks to @Oracle for donating items for SWEP (severe weather emergency protocol) so we are prepared this winter.

Launchpad is supporting local students with their Citizenship GCSE. Other schools in the area have taken part in similar workshops, even if not directly linked to the GCSE, and held Big Sleep Outs. 

Walkies! ends today - it has been fabulous!

It's the penultimate day of Walkies, and Imogen has been taking part with her dog Wilbur. She said: "Every time we go into Reading I notice people sitting in the street and it makes me sad that they have no home ... we take what we have for granted, I just want to help them." ❤️

After a week of Walkies! we are over a third of a way towards our fundraising target - so a huge friendly woof woof and slobbery kiss to everyone taking part or who has donated. 🐶 Dogs like Marie are taking part and walking 1.8km a day as last year we supported 1,800 people.
