In an era where a substantial proportion of undergrads enter university lacking critical thinking skills once deemed essential for success, the last thing we need to be doing is off-loading basic cognitive functions and giving into big tech. Hard pass

This piece lays out all the reasons AI is ill-suited for historical work — getting facts wrong, relying on existing sources only, churning out banal claims in bland prose, etc — and then asserts we’ll all just have to use it anyway. Yeah, no.
