Was reading old Famitsu issues from their early days. Found it a bit boring attempting to read it before because my level was too low so it took forever to read. But getting into it now there's some wild stuff in there, even early on.

Watched a bunch of Hakoz Baelz clips and wow, her Japanese improved a lot since I last watched her. She was always kinda good at it, but this is a different league entirely. Looking it up she moved to the country two years ago, which definitely explains it.

Realized I have one week left on the secondary study deck before all cards have come up at least once. Then I'll have properly had all 2,136 Jouyou kanji under my belt. I might even recognize at least 21 of them on sight!

I think this is the first thing where I outright do not like what the localization attempted. "Mr. Monkey" was originally named サルマゲどん. Sarumagedon. Saru is monkey. Chonmage is a typical Samurai haircut. Don an honoric. The whole name put together sounds like アルマゲドン, Armageddon, as in the movie.

Got a second lens. This is the one I want to use for Animecon. Way less noise, nicer colors, less curving in the corners. Great bokeh. Autofocus is much slower though. Going to have to mess around with this one a bit to get more comfortable with its quirks.

Starting reading Bookworm vol 2 and was wondering about how less likeable the family is in the LNs. I think I *get* it now. The setting is a European-style town in the middle ages, and the family are commoners. They're pragmatic. Maybe even calvanist. It fits in a work highlighting classism.

Found a Chinese supermarket that carries bottles of concentrated dashi that should keep well in a fridge. Tested it out with some basic miso soup. I've now made the only worthwhile miso soup I've had in this country outside of the restaurant I worked at ages ago. (Which no longer exists anyway)
