Suarez is expected to be the primary DH for the Reds but also play 1B/3B. Stewart will also see time at 1B, 3B and DH while Steer is expected to see time in the OF and move around as a utility player.

These fans screaming for Cairo Santos to be released once said the same about Robbie Gould, and then complained about the double-doink. C’mon. Santos has the highest FG % in Bears history. He missed 1 kick (from 50 yds). Final kickoff decision is on the coach, not the kicker.

@bradbiggs.bsky.social Why on earth would you not make sure that kickoff went out of bounds? Seems like a very elementary decision that was cut and dry. Thats 45 seconds.

I read on a Reds blog today that the early lineups have young players because “Tito wants to get a look at (young) guys for his own reasons.” Uh…this early, the training staff has a program for everyone. When the starters are off, you still need a player at every position. Thus, young guys play.

The Classic Baseball Era committee vote is in. Cincinnati’s Dave Parker is finally a Hall of Famer. Parker, a former Reds and Pirates star, was elected along with Dick Allen. Induction is on July 27 in Cooperstown.

IMO re: College Football Playoffs, teams that failed to qualify for their conf. champ game should be viewed as if they had an additional loss. No team should gain ground by not playing on a team that played the extra game. SMU should be in, without a doubt. Can’t sell out the sport for TV ratings.

Congrats to RHP Luis Mey and 2B Tyler Callihan on being added to the Reds 40-man roster, meaning a good chance they see MLB time in 2025. A few thoughts coming on both players…

Per Reds: Nick Martinez accepted qualifying contract offer ($21M) and signed a one year ML contract. Selected from Louisville the contract of INF Tyler Callihan; selected from Chattanooga the contract of RHP Luis Mey. (This means they are added to the 40-man roster). Reds 40-man roster is at 39.

Reds and all MLB teams will be adding minor league players today to fill out their 40-man rosters. I expect the Reds will add 1-3 players. Luis Mey is a certainty. 2B Tyler Callihan is a possibility. Another player I like is Andrew Moore, a hard-throwing reliever. Ivan Johnson could be considered.

2024 Dayton Dragons pitcher Luis Mey broke the stadium record with a 103 mph fastball in April (Hunter Greene 102 mph in 2018). Mey was named today as AFL Relief Pitcher/Year. www.milb.com/dayton/news/...

There are several articles circulating on this big story, and this article by Mark Sheldon is the most informative one I have seen on a rather complicated topic.

I’ll be interested to see if the Reds protect Tyler Callihan on 40-man roster. He did not show much in Dayton, but I always felt there was much more there. Good baseball skills but not toolsy, though he is more athletic than given credit for. Was star player on stacked Team USA national team in HS.
