Ominous clouds over Cancun coast drove outside events indoors last night. When we got off the elevator on the 7th after midnight we were surprised to see two raccoons trotting down the hallway towards us. Clearly they forage through room service leftovers. We put out some papaya.

Just saw Fab Morvan, the surviving member of Milli Vanilli. It was odd that he just held the microphone toward the audience and had us sing all the songs.

Enjoying music from the balcony while my wife sleeps after a long day of flying to Cancun for a week of 80’s in the Sand. Tonight is the kickoff neon foam pool party. It started nearly 3 hours with a kickoff from original MTV VJ Mark Goodman and 2nd gen VJ Downtown Julie Brown.

The Great Pumpkin never showed despite these amazing wooden decorations that my wife made for the yard.

Maui and Bridget crossed the Rainbow Bridge six days apart earlier this month, both at 14 years. Ella, also 14, is all alone now. She now follows us everywhere around the house

When recently at San Simeon viewing the elephant seals I noticed several had these perfectly circular holes. After watching enough SharkFest episodes it occurred to me that they may be bites from a Cookie Cutter Shark. A friend who studied them for his master’s degree said they regularly get bit.

Did not expect to see bottlenose dolphins when I pulled up to park.

The elephant seals like to cuddle up or toss sand into themselves for warmth.

Stopped to see the elephant seal just north of San Simeon. No bulls but still some females pushing 1,500 pounds.

Finally got two see the Hearst Castle. Was foggy in the morning on the common areas tour but cleared up when we back up the hill for an afternoon tour of the upstairs quarters. My dream library!

Tulip is annoyed that her bed (not at all her bed) is turned and filled with dog toys. #caturday

Just took this picture with my aquarium lights off. It’s incredible that the phone can still get these colors in lowlight. The only coral I can make out with my eyes is the large Space Invader Pectinia (Pectinia alcicronis) in the upper right correct.

Escaped to nature with my daughter and hiked the Lewis Creek Trail just south of Yosemite. These are the Corlieu Falls near the trail head. She waded in but this is snow melt run off and COLD!
