Schumer and Jefferies are god awful at media and messaging but for once they are fighting on a topic that will win them political points: healthcare. A long, drawn out fight on healthcare will win over more neutral/Trump voters than anything about Democracy or saying “fascist” a few more times.

PSA to liberals everywhere: government taking stake in companies that receive public funds is actually good. Trump does this for his own nationalist/personal vendettas but it is smart policy outside that reason. Stop hating Trump so much that you blind yourself into hating good stuff too.

I’m old enough to remember when Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi fought a government shutdown in the first Trump term when they were both in the minority, and famously won with Trump having a meltdown. What’s changed? I think Schumer just doesn’t have the appetite for this anymore.

The crazy thing is that the Liberals in Canada had no shot of winning the next election until Trump came into office. Now they have some momentum and the Conservatives have no answer after promoting Trump policies for years has suddenly become immensely unpopular even amongst their own voters.

Perhaps this will be a wake up call for the worst ran state-wide Dem Party in the country that their first priority should be beating Republicans instead of progressives in primaries. If you mindlessly shoe-horn candidates in whose only qualification is not being progressive, this is what you get
