"I... yeah," he answered in his state of confusion and pointed at the glass display, "over here. Pick whichever you like." Would it be rude to ask them what they were...?

The shop's bell rang. Iwai was sure the part-timer wasn't supposed to be here until later. There was no one. Until he heard people talking and looked down. What are those... creatures? His imagination? Kids in a costume? He only sat there and stared at them. This didn't make sense.

Iwai froze momentarily. He swore if they said one more thing about Kaoru, he would— The kid took action first. The man knew it wasn't the real thing, but the way they shook and glared at him made it seem like it could be. "Fine! Only this time!" —

He was about to say that it looked nice and he could do it before the shop's bell rang. These punks seemed to be the one trying to squeeze him for protection money. Clearly, he didn't need that. "Later. Can't you see I have a customer now?"

These were probably 3,000 each at best. "I'll give you ¥10,500," he decided because he took quite a liking to one of them.

If anyone knew all kinds of injuries, that would be Iwai. But this was believable for now. Kids these days. The shop owner shook his head in disbelief. "Lemme see," he grabbed one, examining it. Good, but could be better. "I can make 'em shine. There are new accessories if you're interested."
