Walking along the Bridle Stile today, first mentioned in 1299. Probably considerably older, this pack horse trail carried good into the small town of Sheffield. Estimated population around 1500-2000 at the time. This section climbs out of Mosborough towards High Lane then onto Gleadless #Sheffield

I've just re-watched the Yellowstone origin story 1883. What a fantastic, powerful and emotional piece of TV gold it is. The final episode is absolutely heart wrenching. Superb performances, stunning photography and a great story 🙌

Photo bombed , Angel Street this Saturday. My family are shown living on Angel Street in the 1850's ,60's and 70's , occupations of Cab driver, milliner, groom and servant. They lived in Angel Yard, to the rear of the Angel Hotel (destroyed in the blitz).

After Angel Street was devastated by the blitz, Cockaynes returned to the site with this store, they were later taken over by Schofields. Currently the ground floor is home to Tenpin #Sheffield

Across the country we are losing small venues where bands cut their teeth. Pictured outside the Boardwalk, the Arctic Monkeys , the long closed venue hosted many of the bands early shows #Sheffield

Sheaf running into the Don today. Interesting how the River Don has a peaty darker colour. Probably, more so following all the rain. On the left is the Two Rivers cafe, still mothballed awaiting the optimum time to open.

1/2 Ladies Bridge has 5 arches, the last one on the Wicker side housed the Wicker Tilt. Over time the river was narrowed by further building and the last span hidden from view. It can still be seen from the Castlegate side on a sunny day like today #Sheffield

Just back from Gran Canaria , I went on a hike led by Tomas from Finland. He asked where I was from.. he asked if I knew Wideboyz (climbing celebs), asked if I was United or Weds. Knew the Blades nickname, then said and you have Chris Wilder back and also that Sheffield FC are the oldest. Humbling.

Learning to drive around 1985 and my instructor used to direct me to Darnall. Where I would drive around empty streets, surrounded my levelled brick rubble. That's where this photo took me straight back to. I couldnt get a job and Dad paid in the hope that it would make me more employable. RIP Dad ❤️

Just in from seeing the excellent Giant film at The Light. Pierce Brosnan plays the role so well. The film has to old curse of several shots, where you think, that's not Sheffield 🙄

Sudden rise in temperature has sent loads of meltwater into the Moss Valley. Surging through one of the broken dams that punctuate the river course. The old dam was faced in concrete, in an unsuccessful attempt to strengthen the structure. I love it down there. Fascinating

The Salvation Army Citadel next. Some progress in removing invasive vegetation and securing the windows with metal grills. The roof still looks open in places, with flappy sheets of tarpaulin. Hopefully once a clear vision for the building takes shape we will get more progress 🙏 #Sheffield

New year round up continues with Event Central on Fargate. Much progress on the the new venue, soon to be home to a 200-person live event space, café/bar area on the ground floor with the four upper floors being used as co-working space along with meeting rooms #Sheffield

The Waterfront , new cafe, at Rother Valley Country Park. Looks on track for a spring opening date 👍

Also at Cannon Brewery, the tower is also retained and will be a major feature of the regenerated site. To the left is Club de Padel, already up and running #Sheffield

Moving onto the Cannon Brewery site, a year on and the visitor centre has been demolished (just before xmas). Building to the right is being retained I believe #Sheffield
