I run a #ttrpg convention in Sheffield UK called LongCon. We play weekend mini campaigns from 10am Saturday to about 6pm Sunday. My experiment with paid GMing didn’t go well. I started to feel unpleasantly guilty about it. If I charged the minimum StartPlaying allowed, I’d recoup my costs in the very first game. While I didn’t mind covering expenses, the idea of making pure profit on the other three games bothered me.

I’ve bitten the bullet. I'm offering a paid game - something I said I'd never do it. “Why charge for something I enjoy?”. Now I have to make sure the game lives up to the price. But I don’t feel too guilty. Given my investment and costs, even with 3 paying players, I won’t break even for 14 weeks!
