Comparison of the Eduard P-40E panel. Left is decals and right is PE. The camera is no friend to either as they both look much better with the human eye. I like the color of the left. But the detail of the right. Big take away, you donāt need the Profi-pack for this kit.

This took allot longer than I thought it would. As someone said, itās a complex build. A rewarding build though. A beautiful kit if you put the effort in. In no hurry to start the other one in the box.

Never been a big fan of USAAF schemes that were all over OD. Stole a technique from another modeler on YouTube to spice it up a bit. The varnish makes it look more dramatic than it actually is. I kinda like it!

Stepped away from the bench back in March. Sat down earlier this week to wrap up a couple projects. The first was this little 109. A bit heavy handed with the weathering but I still like it.

Japanese Tit, I think. A new bird for me. Active little fellow it remained still long enough to catch him with a 140mm on a dx camera. Really striking colors.

Just started bird photography recently. Was sitting on a bench and this beauty decided to walk up to me and pose for a bit. One of many amazing pics.

Had great intentions on this one but ran out of motivation at some point. The next couple of weeks will be short on bench time but I will get back to this one in April/May. Better late than neverš¤·āāļø

A friend at the local club printed these 3D files for the Arma Hobby 1/72 scale Ki-43. Canāt tell you how much I like Armaās approach to selling these files for a small price. Saves on shipping, turn around time and reduces the stress around breaking a part. Simply reprint.

This was suppose to be a quick build but per usual became a bit of a journey. Still need to do some weathering but that will wait until my

entry is complete. Really pleased with how the tulip nose came out and with the WGr.21 rocket launchers.

Hmmmā¦. At least one of these is wrong. The Ammo ATOM is much more user friendly for airbrush than the Vallejo Model Air but the colors just donāt quite feel right. Would love to have the AK Real Colors to compare as well.

Doing mid war ERLA factory camo is always a PIA. Killed a bunch of masking supplies on this one. I have no idea where Ammo ATOM got their definition of RLM 74, but this looks odd. A great deal of clean up to go but Iām giving me an A- at this point. Mostly for patience.

This Mr. Dissolved Putty is my favorite for gap and panel filling. Dries fast and sands super easy. Also adhears to the underlying plastic. Less damaging to surface detail than sprue goo.

Itās been a weekend of completions. I think Iām done with Arma Hobby kits for a while. These are nos. 3 & 4 following a pair of hurricanes. All really nice kits and it is clear that Arma is improving as a mfg of kits. Still have a couple in the stash to go.

Arma Hobby 1/72 P-51B. Just had to use the whitewall tires on this one. Overall, an absolutely wonderful kit. Very comparable to the Eduard 1/72 P-51D kits. Some really quirky challenges but nothing insurmountable. Highly recommended.

Arma Hobby 1/72 Ki-84 complete. By my standards, went pretty hard on the weathering. Chipping at 1/72 never quite looks to scale to me. Also trying some new camera gear let me know what you think.

Not quite as enthralled by the Arma kit after full prep for paint. The connection points to the sprue are infuriatingly large. Hard to clean them up consistently. Particularly troubling on some of the clear parts. Not the end of the world but a bit of a time sync.

Completely blown away by the OOB detail on this Arma Hobby 1/72 P-51B cockpit! Not a single piece of PE used. The TechMod decals and supplied 3D printed seat are pure magic. Now to button it all up to never be seen againš

Arma Hobby 1/72 Ki-84 is the next victim on the bench. Refreshingly straight forward build esp. after nothing but Eduard kits with all the bells and whistles for the last year. Had a friend print the 3D file of parts that add a little something extra.

Working on this little beauty the past couple days. Biggest take away is that Eduard has vastly improved their 3D print offerings. Minimal print lines and exquisite detail. Still very fiddly as you would expect at this size. 1/72 P-51 Engine 3D print Kit

I get to a point in every build where I simply need to wrap it up. All I can see is the myriad little errors. Further, I get in a rush to the end. This kit has reached that point. I may do some future weathering but probably not.

P-51D-15+ Cockpit. Eduard 1/72. Not a bad effort TBH. Still donāt love PE but for this instrument panel it rocks. Really wish a manufacturer would give more thought around the use of PE, 3D, and decals in their kits. Each have their place and one size does not fit all.

Metal primers, including Mr. Hobby and Tamiya, are almost impossible to find in the US. Does anyone know whatās up with that? More importantly, does anyone have a suggestion for a good substitute?
