i kind of disappeared form here for a bit. i have had a lot of gardening and cactus stuff to do and im renovating my art studio room so i havent really been painting. right now tho, im making plaster pots for a bunch of little cactus that need to be up-potted

i havent been able to do much art lately so heres a selfie lol

hooraaay got all the spines on. also added to the blues and greens. but now i have to stop cos the fumes are finally just straight up choking me out lol

malachite pigments: finished products. coarse, fine, and ultra-fine

the unoxidized copper will give the pigments a unique shimmer and shine that cant be replicated with synthetic pigments

this is the chrysocolla i will be processing into pigments next

clean up time! i collected most of the malachite that was stuck on everything and added that to the drying rack. next i will be processing crysocolla into teal pigments

its real warm out today so im baking these in the sun. should really speed up the evaporation

ALMOST DONE!!! the only thing i have left here is evaporating out all the water. i consolidated the five different shades into three pigments. the tall jar contains all the reclaimed malachite sand . i'll save that for the next time i need to make some.

got another layer on this today. this is actually almost done

when im done, ill have 5 different pigments from this batch of malachite

no more water soluable impurities, just malachite pigment

this is finally dry enough to work on again
