Introducing the remaining contributors to The Crone, our International Women's Day programme in collaboration with STARLING. Vivienne Dick makes multilayered, open-ended films which combine elements of documentary, performance and fiction.

In the lead up to our International Women's Day event, we are highlighting the contributors to the programme. Shirani Bolle is an artist based in Limerick with Sri Lankan, Dutch-German, and British heritage. Synthesize_Her [S_H] is a feminist sound technology organisation that promotes education.

On Saturday 7 March, Ormston House partners with STARLING to curate a programme of film, workshop, and live performance entitled The Crone, in celebration of International Women’s Day, 2026. Admission is free and all are welcome. Booking is not necessary and audiences can join at any point.

'Memory of a Free Festival', a touring project conceived in response to the Carnsore Point Anti-Nuclear festivals that took place in Wexford between 1978 and 1981, will launch on 21 March at Dublin’s Project Arts Centre, from 2 - 6pm. Tickets are free, available from projectartscentre.ie

Artist Susan MacWilliam will join us to mark the closing of her solo exhibition Table Turning, on Saturday, 21 February at 3pm. MacWilliam will be in conversation with Jacqui McIntosh, curator at the College of Psychic Studies, London. Admission is free and booking is not necessary.

Susan MacWilliam has held a fascination with how humans have sought to document and quantify the spirit realm. Historical texts from her research are presented alongside other objects in her vitrine sculpture 'From the Artist's Library' (2025).

Susan MacWilliam’s vitrine sculpture ‘The Three Arts Club with Fifty-Six Telepaths’ (2025) takes its name from a twentieth-century group that supported young women in practising the ‘three arts’: music, drama, and painting. Supported by The Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick Arts Office.

For ‘Séance Room, 1931’ (2025), Susan MacWilliam has hand-stitched the diagram of the provisional laboratory devised by Dr. T. G. and Lillian Hamilton to study psychic phenomena. ‘Séance Room, 1931’ can be seen as part of MacWilliam's solo exhibition 'Table Turning' until Saturday, 21 February.

As we approach the holiday season, we would like to thank all who have supported Ormston House this year. The gallery will close to the public at 6pm on 13 December 2025, and our office will remain open until 19 December. We reopen on 14 January 2026.

'Book Reader with Leaves' (2025) by Susan MacWilliam has been informed by the interior of Ormston House and its pillar capitals. These sculptures suggest the book as a form of technology that allows intellectual exchange from one person to another, a metaphor for telepathy.

In sonic dialogue, Bea Brennan & Minced Oath explore the intense physical presence of sound through advanced synthesis and improvisation. The two musicians will perform at Ormston House on 1 November at 9pm. Tickets are €10 and available here:

Kiera O'Toole has translated Limerick city's 'spatialised emotions' – "the affective qualities that diffuse space" – into her topographical drawing 'Affective Cartography: Limerick'. This and other works can be seen as part of our group exhibition 'Bíodh Orm Anocht'.

One Leg One Eye will perform on 31 October at 9pm. A project by Ian Lynch (Lankum), One Leg One Eye draws on the raw aesthetics of black metal, noise, and drone. Lynch will be joined by score composer George Brennan. Tickets are €10 and available here:

Seán Hannan’s work explores how forgotten voices and rituals can echo into the future, both through unstable technologies and systems of collaboration. Using archival fragments from autobiographical memories, Hannan’s artworks reflect obsolescence and poetic instability.

Gleo returns for its second edition on 31 October and 1 November. Marking Samhain, the concert series invites the public to Ormston House to gather and listen together. This edition features three acts with distinct approaches to sonic experimentation.
