The story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar sparked a discussion on the foods that our children like. Through their drawings we shared our thoughts, and changed some of the storyline. This naturally extended to a tasting table of their favourite foods and foods from the story. Caterpillar 🐛 🦋

We continued our interest in making masks today and engaged in lots of role play afterwards as we rein acted our characters 😍. Amazing work!

What a busy and fun day in our garden today, following our children's interest in mini beasts and planting. "Look that's like the snail we found, we need to find a spider." 🕷 "The lettuce seeds are tiny, when will they grow. " 🪴

More fun in our garden: jumping to pop the bubbles, great imagination in the sand tray, problem solving with our friends, and more beastie fact findings. 🕷 "I'm making a mansion on a boat, I need to move more sand, see that's the line where the water goes around it." 🚢

Today in our garden our children have been exploring plants, herbs and mini beasts, and leaning interesting facts from our books. "I'm making perfume with the rosemary.' "I didn't know a beetle has four wings."

The most amazing day at palacerigg country park. All of the children were so excited on our adventure. We tried out the treetop climbing frame, explored the woodlands, had a picnic at the park and even seen some baby duckling’s. Can’t wait for our next adventure ❤️

Our children love the freedom that the outdoors brings. From climbing trees, discovering mini beasts, playing football, discovering dragon eggs, and hearing tiny fairies whisper🧚‍♂️Heartwarming to see their curious faces and the sound of laughter, that comes from the excitement of being outdoors 🌳

As we ambled along on our walk last week, our children were so excited to discover lots of little insects. We learned so much about how amazing nature is in the world around us, from plants that were dangerous to plants that were good for us & interesting facts about birds and butterflies 🦋 🐦‍⬛🪴

Some of our children are loving playing football. They brought their football boots everyday and have had fun outdoors in the garden, the school astroturf and the grass field. ⚽️ amazing football skills 😍

A group of children took part in a planned safe fire experience 🔥 Amazing listening skills and great sharing of prior knowledge about safety. So much discussion around STEM as they noticed how the fire changed the wood and made marshmallows melt. Fabulous day in the woods followed by a yummy treat ☺️

A small group enjoyed a visit to Primary 1, showing confidence and curiosity as they explored the learning spaces. They were happy, settled, and highly engaged throughout. ☺️

The children were full of curiosity as they explored the woods, excited to find real living things. They worked together to hunt for creatures, sharing knowledge “they like damp areas” and “I need to move this heavy piece of wood,” while building confidence and learning about the world around us 🐜

The sun was shining and we are loving our new outdoor sandpit 😃

An amazing unhurried walk to the local nature reserve this morning. We searched for signs of spring,explored the wildlife, the stones into the water and even explored the local park☀️ 🌼. It’s amazing how happy the sun makes us all!

We are very proud of our superstar children using the large equipment in the school gym hall. Developing confidence, encouraging others and showing awareness of being safe. 💛

We have created our very own Antonine ElC campsite. 🏕️ Lots of creativity, imagination and teamwork as children made a tent, fire pit and designed their own campsite logo. We have been discussing what is needed to survive in the wild: Food Water Wood for the fire Pyjamas iPads Story books 🔥

Children have shown an interest in football and talking about their favourite football teams and players. We have challenged their interest and incorporated numeracy through their play and learning. Lots of number matching and sequence and identifying numbers on football shirts. ⚽️ 👕 🥅

Our makaton sign for the next 2 weeks is “Good sitting”. Please ask your children about it and practice it at home 😀

We created our very own paper plate designs in the art area. Children have shown interest in creating animals and they have turned out so amazing! Lots of attention to detail, creativity and imagination through out! Well done 🦁 🐱 🐶 🐰

We had our very own Starbucks shop at our water tray today. The children made some very delicious “hot chocolate, coffee and tea” for us all ☕️ 🍵. Lots of creativity, imagination and reinacting real life situations! 😀

We have been having lots of chats around Chinese new year. 🧧 our children are eager to try new foods and have been loving Chinese noodles, spring rolls, prawn crackers. We have been engaging in lots of chats about Chinese new year. Ask us at home what we know😀 Well done for trying new foods everyone

We are focusing on phonological awareness through our play experiences to adapt a universal approach for all our children 😀. Today we used the Bee Bots (technology) to learn the basics of coding, sequence and direction. We found matching words on our journey. Great awareness of rhyme 😀!!

Our story of the month is “Goldilocks and the three bears” We are going to embed this story into children’s play and learning experiences. Repetition of story books is really important for early language and communication skills. Keep an eye out for some experiences to try at home related to this😀

Our makaton sign for the next week is “Angry” Please practice this at home 🏠 We have chosen this as part of health week. We have been talking lots about our emotions and feelings. 😃😢😡😬
