Dog Soldiers 2002 Atmosphere A+ Acting B+ Plot C Subtracting points for two too long gunfire scenes. It’s “Dog Soldiers”. Some folks get off on gunfire. But during those scenes I felt like I was watching someone else play a video game. I don’t like that feeling. Loved the campfire stories though.

Why did it take me so long to watch this? It was intoxicatingly creepy. Beautifully filmed and acted. I’m related to some religious zealots so a little triggering too, but worth it. I loved Rose Glass’s more recent film Love Lies Bleeding too. Women directors ❤️

Yeah, I bought these for the art work -but they were yum.

I genuinely enjoyed this film. I would watch it again (and again). The dark world it creates is compelling- horrible and fun. Jessie Buckley’s performance is breathtaking enough to smooth over any bumps in the dialogue- she sells it completely. Yes, I wanted to like it - I wasn’t disappointed.
