Listening to some early 50s Miles Davis this evening. The sessions were record in 1952 1953 and in 1954. Originally released on 78s and then on two blue note 10 inch LPs . Solid early hard bop recordings. I was only an embryo when the last one of these was recorded. #jazzsky

Music 🎶 for the cocktail 🍸 hour: Reflections, Steve Lacy Plays Thelonious Monk was released on Prestige in 1959. It features Mal Waldron, Buell Neidlinger and Elvin Jones. Reportedly this was the first album devoted entirely to Monk's music recorded by another artist. It is highly digable. #jazzsky

Latin percussionist and Jazz drummer Willie Bobo was born on this date in 1934 he plays drums and timbales on one of my favorite albums Inventions and Dimensions by Herbie Hancock with Paul Chambers and Osvaldo "Chihuahua" Martinez. It's intriguing minimalist modal Jazz with Latin rhythm. #jazzsky
