i finally finished painting my office today … tomorrow, i’ll move everything back into place … and then i have to figure out what to put on the walls. i had a gallery wall in there, but it was up for 6 years and i’d like to switch things around … which is a whole level of decision making.

driving home from picking up cocoa, they were talking about davis day on cbc. all the men on my dad’s side were miners, including my dad. he lost part of a lung, his brother died years later of lung cancer, and, most tragically, my aunt lost her husband to a mine accident in the 60s.

a local business owner/content creator/sister of a friend got married in tuscany yesterday and i am living for the stories from the wedding. she’s one of those humans i don’t know very well, but i actively root for her success and happiness.

my thursday morning dirty chai order is now an iced dirty chai order.

a local craft co-op is using ai images on their facebook and it hurts my heart. they’d be annoyed if i walked in and said “i could get this on temu.” … so i can be annoyed that they’re doing that shit. but also, ew.

i made another batch of stewed rhubarb this afternoon … and someone helped with the harvest. i wish she’d weed the garden boxes while she’s at it! also, rhubarb blooms are wild!

i just had tea with my across the street neighbour … and can i say how much i love that we’ve become friends so quickly. i also love that i have friends ranging from mid-30s to mid-70s … what an abundance of wonderful women in my life!

and the lawn is mowed ... it's a perfect day for it, since the wind kept me from being sweaty.

cuddled in bed with my girl, listening to the rain and watching “greys anatomy” … we’re on season 19, so i’m soon going to have to choose a new mindless watch program.

remember when i had a neighbour who yelled and sweared at her banshee children and had screaming fights with her ex in the street? i now have neighbours who sing to their dog and answer the phone “hello, my love” when their partner calls.

someone has set up a little chalk art station at the school bus stop by my house and it gave me such joy this morning! it says “happy pride! have fun with the chalk, kids!”

i’m joining the board of an organization facing major challenges thanks to … you guessed it … the houston government and its shortsighted decision making. just adding to my list of reasons why my tummy hurts and i’m mad at the government.

over a year of giving eye drops to roxy has paid off … i have a solid technique, i just had to adapt it for a 38lb dog on the floor instead of a 12lb dog on the counter.

i harvested and stewed more rhubarb today. i’m like a homesteader now! 🤣

also, apparently i looked really good today … i had 3 people tell me so. 🤷‍♀️

it’s nice when your vet says she was happy to see you on her book because she’d be able to relax for a sec … as i’m a diligent pet mama and wouldn’t be bringing in a surprise disaster. no sign of injury, so cocoa probably has allergies to the puffs in the air. eye drops for 5 days for the muppet.

is there anything more delightful than the guy who lives downstairs next door and the guy who lives upstairs next door comparing their plants and gardens?

it’s a perfect day for lunch on a patio.

two meetings this morning, then an unplanned vet visit for cocoa … her left eye is unusually goopy, and her mama has some residual ptsd from her big sister’s piratification. better safe than cyclops, as they say.

my office is even more of a mess now than it was this morning, and cocoa is unimpressed that i've been fucking about with her house while she was at dayschool.

“yeah, so that doesn’t necessarily read as milk.” things i said in a professional capacity today.

i just stewed rhubarb from my own garden for the first time! i’ve had the rhubarb plant for a few years, but have never harvested any of it. it’s going to be so tasty on some frozen yogurt for dessert tonight!

and it seems the nova scotia stampede has been replaced by the cape breton pro rodeo … big kudos to the folks in sydney for grabbing the opportunity by the horns … pun intended.

it doesn’t matter how often i pedicure my feet, at some point, my right big toe will always find its way through any pair of sneakers i own.

i almost passed out/threw up in the dollar store this morning because i smooshed my finger in the cooler door and ohmyfuckinggod that hurt. and they didn’t even have any diet dr. pepper.

i have to have a potentially challenging business conversation this morning ... but then i get to catch up with a wonderful client, and then spend time with some great women this afternoon. but my belly butterflies are solely focused on the first thing.

it’s rained a good chunk of the day here today … thunder in halifax but it’s blue skies and sunshine here now. nova scotia weather is a ride.

someone has thoughts about the mess my/our office is currently in, the efficiency of working from the couch vs cuddling on the couch, and how long she has to wait for her dinner.

fighting with a dying platform for a website instead of building a new site like i’d hoped to because digital funding we applied for in april hasn’t been determined yet, and slashes to tourism funding mean my time has been cut in half so i can’t even squeeze it into my budget. thanks, tim.
