I've been working my way through the early Justice Society of America stuff. So, does anyone know if the JSA ever do any crimefighting together? Because the JSA meet, discuss a problem, and then go off to have individual adventures related to tge problem. They don't even pair off like Fox's JLA.

Oh, we're starting with the betrayal of Snapper Carr. This is going to be rough. I like Snapper. I've liked Snapper since I read JLA: Year One.

Okay, so I'm writing a blog post about the 1997 JLA pilot. And I want to make the argument that it's not bad because it doesn't have the platonic ideal "Big 7" League but because it's just a bad pilot. So now I'm explaining the history of the JL in all its forms. And . . . it's kind of a lot now.

Okay, so if there's one thing I think we can all agree on, it's that the but original design for Flip the Frog is way better than the second one. (Second one isn't even frog-shaped).

Okay, so I started playing Marvel Cosmic Invasion. And now I kind of want the same kind of thing for DC characters. And I want a lot of the characters to be JLI guys. And maybe a couple of Outsiders. (Yeah, I'm kind of reeling in '80s/'90s nostalgia here).

Was just rewatching the failed '97 JLA pilot so I can write a blog post about it. It's a bad pilot but I find it fascinating in some ways. It's like someone tried to create a cross between Friends, The Real World and Lois and Clark with a mash-up of the '70s and late '80s Justice Leagues. [CONT]

It's kind of mind-boggling that we were worried about Looney Tunes disappearing from TV. I mean, there are all sorts of theatrical cartoons that aren't seen anymore (Lantz, Van Bueren, Iwerks, Terrytoons, Famous, etc). And others that are kept a tight lid on (Disney). But LT and T&J were neither.

I know it ended up tripping headfirst into being a '90s comics stereotype. But I like how it used American youth culture signifiers from the past (biker jacket, earring, etc) to show that the Kid was more of a restless, rough-edged "delinquent" and thus a contrast to the more straight-laced Clark.

These characters were still fairly big and well-known for a while, though. Arguably longer than they normally should be. The pop culture of the Baby Boomer generation looms large in general, just because of what a large generation it was. [CONT]

Watching Roger Rabbit again. Growing up, the Dip seemed like some strange otherwordly substance. But the movie just described it as turpentine, acetone and benzene. That's . . . Paint thinner. Or at least something similar.

I really should stop arguing with people on Facebook. I just got into it again about OUaT's portrayal of Peter Pan, and the notion that Peter "was always a villain". He's not. He's an antihero, an unknowingly tragic figure, and an example of the necessity of growing up. [CONT]

Watching UPA's 1001 Arabian Nights (with Magoo as Aladdin's uncle). And now I know that Disney isn't the first one to combine the wicked sorcerer and evil vizier into one character. Or to leave out the Djinni of the Ring.

I've been watching the old Mr. Magoo theatrical shorts and came to a realization. Magoo is a bit of Karen.

No kidding! I've been following this manga since the first tonkabon came out stateside. I had actually been hoping for a live action adaptation. Y'know, because kaiju. When someone says "kaiju" to me, I'm the type who's like "Great, now let's see the rubber suit!".

Was supposed to go to a dentist appointment, but the dentist's office closed because of inclement weather. Was well and good anyway, because I'm not exactly feeling 100% anyway. Now I'm sitting here watching old Mr. Magoo cartoons so I can blog about them later.

Watching Rankin-Bass's Cricket on the Hearth. Which drove me to google whether or not there are green crickets. Because both Rankin-Bass and Disney depicts crickets as green. Most of the crickets I've seen are black or tan.
