Decided to watch the "Sapsorrow" episode of Jim Henson's The Storyteller before work. Just realized there's a scene where there are literally mice crawling on the Straggled Hag's costume. Amazing attention to detail on on hand. Potentially creepy on the other.

Help me out here, #comics fans. I have a question. Do you consider the Prankster a deep-cut #Superman villain. Someone else online said he was. I really don't. I mean, he's one of only four Golden Age Superman villains to make it out of the era in a notable way.

Observation: There is A LOT of Captain Nemo in Chris Claremont's take on Magneto. Only, instead of a submarine, Magneto had an asteroid.

I'm calling it now: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is still a pretty good movie, aside from the "cannibals" scene maybe. And the fight against the rubber giant squid? Chef's kiss.

Captain Nemo has a pet sea lion? Was that in the Jules Verne book? It's been a while since I've read Jules Verne.

I wish I had known ahead of time that Peter Lorre was in this movie. It's triggered me to start doing my impression of him. I'm just sitting here, watching a Disney movie, talking to myself like Boo Berry.

I'm officially done watching all the new stuff I want to watch on Disney+. So, before I cancel my subscription for another stretch, I decided to have a mini-marathon (or maybe just a double feature) of some old Disney live action adventure movies. Third Man on the Mountain is on now.

Watching the Flintstones. Currently, the episode on is the weird one where Dino talks like Phil Silvers.

I'm watching Kamen Rider Black. I'm getting into the latter half of the series and . . . I'm sorry, but what in the name of sanity are those ridiculous, noisy things on Shadow Moon's feet? Please tell me that they at least have some kind of purpose besides making noise. #tokusatsu

Silver Surfer ep. 7. Beta-Ray Bill is Irish? I remembered that one of the characters on this show was inexplicably Irish, but I thought it was Pip the Troll.

Okay! Silver Surfer episodes 5 and 6! Hey! Look, it's Nebula and she's a space pirate! And . . . she's been turned into a green goo creature that's stuck at the Universal Library planet. It can be a bit surprising what this show does with characters that would be important decades later.

This episode of Silver Surfer is named "The Planet of Dr. Moreau". And . . . it isn't about Counter-Earth and the High Evolutionary? That's surprising.

Oh, my request from the library came in! And it's one of those little compact comics with the tiny print. Great. And before you ask, no I don't need bifocals! Clearly the book is the problem!

Rewatching Silver Surfer on Disney+. Though I do not begrudge the modern Marvel movies for their more tongue-in-cheek (read as: "quippy") tone, it is oddly refreshing to revisit the days when Marvel and especially their cosmic stuff was terribly operatic and melodramatic.

You binge Friends and Seinfeld, I binge Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008, Cartoon Network). We are not the same.

You know, I just watched the work print of the 1990 Captain America movie. I don't have the patience to entertain anyone's ideas of what is the "end of cinema".

Events typically throw me. Even if I read some of an event, I can rarely read all of it. But that said, probably Phalanx Covenant. At least the part that introduced Generation X. I remember being very invested in meeting this new group of kids. I especially liked the sarcstic gray guy.

I've always thought of "All Star" as the Mystery Men song. But that's for a couple reasons. For one, I was a big superhero geek, so I knew the film. For another, I remember that summer late in my high school career. That song was played over the radio at the Taco Bell I worked at constantly.

That it's okay for libraries to throw away old library books they don't need.

You know, the thing about Arcade's Murderworld is that it's pretty deadly, but the Oriental Assassin Company licensed the concept and built a Tokyo Murderworld that's much deadlier. And don't even get me started on the misstep that was Euro Murderworld.

This is surprisingly progressive thinking for a group of square-jawed, white, male adventurers in 1960. I bet 10 to 1 the British Museum showed up five minutes after the Challengers left.

I have a whole list of new shows I could be watching. And yet, here I am watching Batman: The Brave and the Bold again. The draw of Batman grumpily hanging out with C-List superheroes is too strong.

Started a series of "explainer" posts on my blog abput C-list DC heroes. Here's who I've got so far (and yes I use a blackboard for planning). Hoping to get them out there before they end up a supporting character in a movie. Any fellow #comics fans know of any others that should go on the list.

Hey, next time there's a #dccomics multiverse/time event, they should just have a scene where Iris West is in a room awkwardly talking to all her different fathers. William West, Ira West, Joe West from the TV show, Eric Russell from the 30th Century.

I'm glad I revisited Galactic Guardians. Sometimes I just want a silly, kids' superhero show that isn't a parody. And I can't watch Batman: The Brave and the Bold every time.

Watching the "Death of Superman" episode of Galactic Guardians. Seeing the black armbands with S-shields is giving me flashbacks to 1993. Though, knowing that this show did it first is making me think Doomsday is a bit of a hack. Like, get your own schtick, Doomsday.

This ep of Galactic Guardians really does give a nice amount of screentime to Samurai. Why he got so much while Green Lantern, Aquaman and Hawkman were glorified cameos is beyond me.

Back to Galactic Guardians. Watching the one with "Star City", which isn't the actual Star City but a space station. At one point, Firestorm gets incapacitated by being sprayed with something "organic". Which makes me realize that his whole costume must be synthetic. He's the polyester superhero

I just started a new series on my blog where I try to explain C-list DC superheroes to my audience of largely normal relatives (feel free to read too). I started easy with Mister Terrific. Short list of others I'll probably do: Metamorpho, Elongated Man, Deadman, Firestorm, Starman, etc.

One big problem with Galactic Guardians is they tease a bigger cast than they actually use. Despite advertising characters like Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman, the actual main cast is sometghing like Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Firestorm and Cyborg.

I'm up to the Royal Flush Gang episode of Galactic Guardians. The Ace reveal is nice, but it's still a shame that Prof. Amos Fortune wasn't involved in some way. I was actually kind of impressed by Fortune when I read some Silver Age Justice League of America.

Another thing about Galactic Guardians is it reminds us just how long DC has been raiding the Fourth World for villains. And that actually started in 1984 with the Legendary Super Powers Show. I almost feel bad for the New Gods for being left out.

I'm watching Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians. It's one of the better seasons of Super Friends. But it's still funny how they basically turned Darkseid and Wonder Woman into a more dramatic version of Bowser and Princess Peach.
