Commander Montgomery Scott, the chief engineer of the Enterprise and my favourite Sci Fi character. I always admired his ability to get the ship running again just in the nick of time. Outer Space's favourite Scotsman was played by James Doohan, a Canadian of Irish descent.

I just listed this silver age X-Men comic book this afternoon. It got 23 views in a matter of hours and sold this evening. I've never experienced anything like it on my little eBay store!

One of the items I used to sell at vintage and antique markets was West Coast First Nations art. I'm a big fan of wood carvings.

I made my first eBay sale to a buyer in the US since 35% tariffs and the end of de minimus exemptions. It's a $6 comic book, originally printed in USA, but I was notified that a required security check has delayed delivery. Red tape will cause more harm than the actual tariffs.

I learned a lesson this week when an auction house sent me 2 silver age comics I won. Wrapping the comics in shrink wrap and packaging them in a manila envelope is probably not the best way to ship vintage comics. (I ship my books in a cardboard shipping box)

I had a handful of vintage Fangoria magazines lying around so I listed them on my eBay store. Less than an hour after listing them, buyers started buying them. Help! I need some more 1980s Fangoria magazines!

Nothing says retro cool better than a Lee Storm Rider. There were two types of buyers for my Jean Jackets at the vintage shows: teen girls looking for small and extra small jackets and middle aged men looking for extra large or extra extra large sizes.

I'm a big fan of mid century modern. In my vintage show days, I rehabbed some teak furniture and these Eames chairs.

I started collecting comics again in the 80s. Comic shops were springing all over town selling DC and Marvel titles, of course, but also books by new Indy publishers. Most didn't make it but the Turtles carry on, Cowabunga!

Back in my antique and vintage show days, I got into art glass. Turns out it's a hard sell.

I grew up in the 1970's so for me the bronze age is my golden age of comics.

My wife put together this mini green house for her grow op. Flowers, lettuce, and chives: what did you think she was going to grow? Actually, in Canada, it's legal to grow a bit of weed for personal consumption but neither my wife or I partake. She can't stand the slinky smell.

On one hand, the world is falling into a financial crisis, maybe even a depression. On the other hand, you haven't completed that silver age run of your favorite comic series yet. I'm a little biased because I sell comics on eBay but I say, keep buying those comics!

When it comes to DC silver age comics, it's all about Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. I think we should give some of the almost forgotten ones another look.

As a Canadian selling on eBay, I worried about how the Trump Tariffs would affect my sales. There's a de minimus threshold of $800 so I'm ok. This trade war might help my business. I sell my comics in $CDN and it's down in value. My sales to customers in the US could ironically go up. Oh Canada!

IMHO the Chris Claremont run of X-Men was really well written. Mostly, the art was pretty good too. Occasionally, the cover was not as good as the story.

Warren Publishing Company created some amazing magazines featuring great illustrations and scary stories. The painted covers were horrific yet beautiful at the same time

When I was a young boy, my favorite comic book was The Mighty Thor. Now that I can afford to buy the occasional silver age comic, I'm gravitating towards Journey into Mystery with Thor. Copies can be pricey but there are still some affordable GD to VG books for sale.

A few days ago, I was followed by Mark freaking Hammel. In honour of this momentous occasion, here's a classic Star Wars comic cover featuring a young guy who looked vaguely like him.
