Quick tip about keeping your undo states cleaner in Photoshop. I find Layer Visibility changes to be USELESS -- and this is how you keep them from being added to history.

I went from a 2.5K 240hz monitor to a 4K 144hz monitor recently and I can't overstate how much more versatile a *fast enough* 4K screen is vs super-fast 2.5K. Unless e-sports is your job, the higher resolution is FAR more useful for productivity apps when not gaming, for a hard-to-notice drop in hz.

Some preview pages from my upcoming book on learning not just how to draw perspective, but how to effectively use it for planning your compositions. I always felt these kinds of examples are missing from every other book I've looked at on the subject, so I'm making one chock full of them.

Quick digital art tip on how the center of an element based on its optical [flat 2D] appearance is not the same as where it would exist in 3D-space. Add a pair of crossing lines to keep track of where the center is to use as a reference location for the pivot point, especially for concentric shapes.

This isn’t a unique take it just hits me once in a while seeing old pencil tests etc that Disney spent more than 60 years building upon 2D animation ONLY to completely forget how to do it in less than 20 years in favor of R&D’ing photo realistic rendering tech as if it was the goal all along.

I've been seeing a lot of discussions about other social media platforms and many lumping Cara in with the dead & dying. People seem confused about what Cara is trying to be, because it's a platform for & by artists -- without regular public users, what's the point? etc (1/2)

Foreshortening vs Duplicate+Scale: As an object moves further away from your point of view, it foreshortens. The total observable depth of the object diminishes as its angle becomes increasingly shallower with distance. Example: Free transforming copies of this door doesn't take this into account.

The branding for Bluesky is really funny in how it successfully (legally) revives the old Twitter branding Elon passed on. I put these two apps next to each other on my Home Screen about a month ago and instinctively tap the more ‘Twitter’ looking one every time. X just looks like uber or whatever.

I work entirely digitally now, but back then in college I did almost all my work on paper with microns and stuff first and did some light coloring in photoshop. I still have the original drawings around here somewhere... I actually want to buy some screentone sheets to try doing it for real.

Two more oldies (2009) I want to post from my obviously-influenced-by-mirrors-edge phase in college. I sometimes thing about re-embracing the aesthetic because it's so much fun to color.

This was the first digital painting I ever did at age 15 (2003) in Photoshop 5.0 with a mouse. Fun fact, this image is now old enough to legally gamble in a casino.
