Today, September 11th, is the 24th anniversary of the attack on our country, where four hijacked aircraft, one in Washington, two in New York City, and one in Pennsylvania, were used to commit unspeakable violence against our people. 9/11 was a devastating and horrible occurrence.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk. The growing and horrible violence that appears to be escalating in this country must stop. No matter your position on any issue or any elected official, no one’s position must include violent solutions.

Today, we honor the pioneers of the labor movement, men and women who put their lives on the line, demanding fair labor practices for the workers who helped to build this country. Because of their sacrifices, we have healthcare, pensions, vacations, and fair working hours.

Trump is continuing to advance his racist agenda against Black folks. He is now using his executive privilege to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC, claiming he’s doing this to reduce crime, even though statistics show crime is at a 30-year low.

It is difficult to understand or believe that 60 years after President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965, we would now be confronted by outright brazen efforts to destroy it. President Trump, have you no shame? Have you no respect for the Constitution?

Does Trump really believe the American people are stupid? There is overwhelming bipartisan support for unleashing the Epstein files! The recent questionable meeting by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche with Ghislaine Maxwell has resulted in the transfer of Maxwell to a minimum-security facility.

John Lewis was truly a human being who dedicated his life & career to the struggle for civil rights, human rights, & equality for all in this country. During the march for voting rights, John Lewis was viciously beaten & almost lost his life at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.

Jewel Thais-Williams was an extraordinary human being. She was the most dedicated advocate for the LGBTQ community, and she created the fabulous nightclub, Jewel’s Catch One Disco. Catch One became a welcoming spot for the LGBTQ community and for many Hollywood stars and entertainers.

I had a wonderful time celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation at this year’s TOCApalooza! This community celebration in the City of Torrance was filled with music, art, and creativity, a true reflection of the vibrant spirit of Torrance.

I believe Trump’s attack on Iran, hitting three reported nuclear targets, is tantamount to a declaration of war. The President must be confronted by Members of Congress to be reminded that the President must come before Congress to seek approval before a declaration of war.

June 19th is a special day, celebrated by so many families, churches, friends, and institutions who are focused on this national holiday because of what it means in our lives.

On June 12th, 1963, one of our country’s greatest Civil Rights leaders, Medgar Evers, was assassinated in Jackson, Mississippi. Medgar was the NAACP’s first Field Secretary for Mississippi and was a tireless worker and promoter of voting rights.

Today, I came to the Metropolitan Detention Center to exercise my constitutional rights as a Member of Congress to check on the safety and conditions of SEIU California President David Huerta, who was arrested by ICE.

The Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center educates and prepares adult learners for academic and career success. I am extremely proud of this year's graduating class, who had the drive to better their lives and improve their community!

I am outraged that Trump's Department of Labor plans to suspend operations at Job Corps centers nationwide. This vital program provides low-income students ages 16-24 with housing, education, career training & employment assistance. I’ll keep fighting to protect Job Corps!

It was a privilege to be honored by Stevie Wonder at the KJLH 25th Annual Women’s Health Expo. I attend every year and have seen the expo grow to become one of the largest health events in California for women & families. I commend the KJLH family for providing this vital resource to the community.
