Playing in a Perfect Draw TTRPG. What a fun system! I think it’s barely a pbta game, with nearly 20 different moves across 3 modes of play. But it’s soooooooo good! The way it brings its inspired genre to life, it’s like electricity to begin a card game in game!

Daily writing habits are the best. It’s so hard to recultivate honoring that time when you fall off the wagon for a few weeks.

Finished my intro letter for a tnt #ttrpg campaign I am going to run. The premise is the players made a deal with a powerful fey entity, and she is fucking with them and using them as entertainment. The campaign starts with them deciding what to do about it. She’s totally based on a movie director!

#Ttrpg love post #8: Games without initiative! A step further, games that don’t have 2 different rulesets for roleplay or combat. Getting 1 uninterrupted experience of getting to be totally in my character’s shoes is great! Initiative slows things to a creep where story moments happen in inches.

#Ttrpg love post #5: this book was one of my favorite dm tools ever. Amazing monster blocks, 40 tables across 10 different themes of urban session & campaign ideas. It’s invaluable while running 5e & spending 3-4 sessions in a city & looking for conflict. The tables are nice when I’m out of ideas.

#TTRPG love post #2: another thing I love? D6s! What a fantastic die! There is this false idea that real games use d20s. Multiple d6s and exploding dice mechanics and doubles or triples add such interesting ranges of probability to games that game devs can plan big mechanics & not fear dice wrath.

#Ttrpg love post #1: I love games that include your background as a part of character creation. Games that take it a step further to base your mechanics on the culture you grew up in rather than just what you were born as knock this out of the park.

For me, to critique is an act of love. If I didn’t care about something, I wouldn’t waste time thinking about how to make something better. Instead I just wouldn’t talk about it. Who is using alchemy vtt for indie an indie #ttrpg? Any thoughts so far? Czepeku integration is looking teeempting. But $25 a month on top of $8 a month. I’d be paying more for alchemy and scenes than I do for the entire adobe creative suite 😵‍💫😵‍💫

I love the idea of spellbooks in fantasy. This idea that weaving order out of the arcane is a big complicated process that feels nearly impossible to hold entirely in your head. I’m definitely going to implement something similar with our current tales & twists ttrpg.

I did make a beat em up side scrolling ttrpg. It’s 4 pages long. No idea why I made it, but it was fun! Hopefully it will be on itch this weekend!
