Overachieving on a Sunday morning: spreading mulch before 9:15am (and before coffee) as the great white foggy mess slowly burned off.

Last night I dreamt I was stuck with a textbook author whose writing crutch was "It's obvious that...." and I was allowed to kick them in the shins every time they used the phrase.

Okay so...if I make a roasted duck with duck fat potatoes, cranberry jalapeno sauce, a radicchio salad (from the garden) and a pumpkin, maple, bourbon tiramisu is there any note I'm missing? I might do deviled eggs for "brunch" .

Dear internet: if someone has a list of what I should stock up on at Lotte Plaza, I would appreciate it. Number one on my list at the moment is: 'pho spices in units of one f*ckton'. (Technically we have two Asian grocery stores in Cville and two Indian grocery stores but....there are gaps)

Oh, post dinner discussions in our house: state law says if you hit a deer, bear, turkey or elk with a car you can claim it as yours if you call the cops and they see it and believe it was hit. Hmmm.

I am making myself a shopping list of Lotte Plaza and Lidl for Monday and uhhhh. Well. Lidl is gonna get a potential fraud flag on my credit card as I stock up on cheeses (whooo they still have some Greek shit like manouri) and buy a leg of Spanish ham.

Winter is coming and thus we might want to use the dryer...but we've never cleaned the dryer vent in this house and we doubt the previous owners did either so....the lint and dust pile has started.

Unexpected problem having a fenced yard the dog can now play in unleashed: her getting zoomies in the rain means her beinging her muddy feet straight back to the sofa _sigh_ (I also noticed our first disapproving glare about the fence yesterday 🙄)

Ugh. I cooked the dog her dinners fresh tonight and she cried when I fed her and came to sit next to me after snarfing with cry eyes. Silly dumb extra stinky farty beast, we will always do our best to feed you good food even if we don't let you catch a neighborhood venison.

Today in yay, the spouse took some time off before he hit use or lose on PTO: the new garbage disposal has been installled! It works. And now for various run around the yard craziness before...the rototilling of the fence fronting flower bed facing the house (to get bulbs, a camellia, and an apple)

It's the week before Thanksgiving and my roses are still giving us color. 🌱

Fun is waking up mutiple times to muscle twitching from your knee to your groin in the middle of the night.

I put the lady in a tank top since she's cold but also gets rarw-y about jammies and she's cuddled like it's the worst.

Well...I finally gave in and ripped some tomatoes out of the raised beds today since they've frozen a few times and biweekly compost pickup is tomorrow. Thank you garden tomatoes, we'll have more of you next year!

Oh yeah, I should not have grocery shopped at 2pm having consumed no food today, but my interpretation of the Tucson Frog and Firkin Hen House is spot freaking on and will keep away vampires.

Well it looks like a stick but my dwarf Gala apple finally arrived so we can plant it this weekend.

Oh, well. We were doing good until about 15 minutes ago in the house, but now the dog is all up in my stuff and it's not because she needs to go out because she said no to the offers. So instead she thinks mommy has a problem _or_ she needs daddy. I just wish she could actually speak.

Apparently I just had to get grumbly that our local cidery/vendor of apple ttees had not posted their catalog yet even though it's "late November" for the dwarf Gala apple I ordered to ship from another vendor. Purposely picked for semi self fertile, plus surrounding blocks have other apples.

Useful things I did today: went thru the pile of old gardening gloves to collect all the ones that needed thrown away. From them you could tell I'm right handed and tend to use my pointer and middle finger when digging out weeds with my hands. In other news: I'm gonna need more gardening gloves.

Ahh Monday night dinner: where I make 45 pork dumplings and pull out the 3 cups of duck stock in the freezer to make dinner plus additional dumpling leftovers to freeze.

Sunday our garbage disposal decided to seize. Last night I checked Home Depot and Lowes for a hot swap...$129, not bad but only at Lowes. Today after waiting 15 minutes after asking for help and getting none b/c they were above where I could reach I ordered one off Amazon for tomorrow delivery 🙄

Sunday night dinner: bucatini with a roasted kabocha squash and sage cream sauce with...bacon.

I feel like my niche in adulting is: knows how to install privacy films. Today I'm replacing the iris inspired film that only covered 2/3 of the downstairs half bath window with new stuff. I'm not asking the the vertical blinds had a coating of sawdust on top of them (first time I've removed these)

Temperature wise it is quite nice outside, but ugh, this wind. I think everything in the yard that could blow over has now.

I am in coffee consumption shlub for the morning with coffee in hand, but Freya really really loves the fenced yard as evidenced by zoomies.

Omg, Freya's response to a leash-free pre-bedtime pittie potty in the newly fenced yard was to run around with pittie wiggles and excite for toys, including the new tennis ball she stashed in her lair in the upstairs of the house.

Friday success: I finshed the last of the granny squares for the body of my crochet cardigan. I have to decide if up next is starting the squares that will be used for the sleeves or if it's time to piece together the main body. Just to verify fit etc.

Our lady of sun baked potato just got to enjoy her yard off leash for the first time ever!

Standing at my windows watching near collisions because the city's leaf collection truck guys are just clueless and literally parked in the middle of a signalized intersection is...sadly not really a surprise.

Fence guys got half the fence installed before they peaced out for the day, so I took Freya out on a yard inspection and I don't think she understand that it means this weekend she finally gets to be in the yard with her humans off leash.

Lol, when the spouse says 'you should eat lunch today because I don't know when dinner will happen' you know they lack ideas for making dinner tonight.

Y'all the fence guys have only been here 10 minutes and the yard already looks naked as they take out the old fence.

This morning in holy sirens: all the emergency services haul ass when there's a reported carbon monoxide alarm at the fuel and heating oil depot down the road.

Me today: it's day 1 of two for new fence. *does the my doggie is getting a fence so she can play in the yard dance along with I can line dry my undies and not ahow them to the world*

Dear crochet pocket friends: does anyone have a recommened wrap cardigan pattern/chart for someone on their second sweater? (First is gonna be a granny square cardigan). I have about 2400 yards of now discontinued Joann's fabric yarn I want to turn into a sweater.

Sigh, somedays you try making a new pizza dough with some mods (King Arthur Sourdough Discard but...with active starter) and wind up with dough so wet you have to do a sheet pan pizza. It looks good though.

With a final 3 pints of roasted cherry tomato sauce (23 pints total this year, but I also pickled tomatoes as well), I think today might marker when I'm done with 2025 garden canning.

Today in doggies living up to their names: I was out refilling the dog cookie library this morning when Boo came by with their people and....that previous giver of sweet sweet puppy kisses is grown but slightly timid.

Double checked our energy usage yesterday because it was butt cold and we have more attic insulation and compared to a day in December last year with a very similar temperature profile we used 20% less electric. Which is good, but maybe I could turn the heat up a degree or two now.

Oh yay, the goblin is rolling on my bladder because she wants attention. Life with dogs is great, why can't we just cuddle 😴
